Anti-Abortion Groups Accused of Violating Non-Profit Status
"A Washington DC watch-dog group is accusing two of the groups backing South Dakota's ban on almost all abortions of operating illegally. Wednesday morning a complaint was filed with the Internal Revenue Service against The Alpha Center, The National Abstinence Clearinghouse and their leader, Leslie Unruh.

"As the abortion debate ran it's course though the South Dakota legislature, Leslie Unruh of the Abstinence Clearinghouse and the Alpha Center was one of the most vocal proponents.

"Now the group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has filed a complaint against Unruh and both organizations charging they lobbied more than a non-profit group is allowed to by law. Melanie Sloan is the Executive Director. "The National Abstinence Clearinghouse and the Alpha Center are really not allowed to engage in more than about 5% of their time lobbying. But even more problematic is they filed on their tax forms that they file with the IRS, they said they engaged in absolutely no lobbying."

5. I have had personal experiences with her...

... and she is a real piece of work. If you dont kowtow to her in her presence, she tosses you an icy stare that will make your cheeks cold. And when you got the goods on her, she begs for mercy.

8. sorry, it's call-out time

One really doesn't often see men's sexual prowess being impugned, or level of sexual satisfaction questioned, as a basis for opposing the policies they advocate. Really.

We know nothing about Unruh's sexuality. We do not need to know anything about her sexuality. Her sexuality is really not in issue in discussions of her policy positions.

It is entirely possible to have five orgasms a day and still be a fascist. And it is equally possible to discuss women's policy positions without impugning their sexuality.

9. We often say that underneath a traditional marriage amendment
fan is a gay person who just can't get out of the closet. I can't say positively what their motivation is but I would think envy and fear are in the soup. Just because this is a woman does not mean she cannot have similar problems and try to address them by changing the world around her than changing herself. Considering that the average age of a first marriage is in the 20's now as opposed to the teens years ago I would think that someone who pushes chastity to the depths that she does would have some sort of problem. Of course I could be wrong but I think I have a right to my opinion.

And actually that book may be helpful to some people if it is the one that I remember from years ago. I had a friend who used one of those books to help herself and it was very successful. I don't find anything demeaning in it at all.

I am not trying to send ill will to any person here. This is just my opinion. Can we agree to disagree?

Peace

Maraya

10. good for you
We often say that underneath a traditional marriage amendment fan is a gay person who just can't get out of the closet.

I don't. I wouldn't say something quite so offensive and dumb. So there we are.

Of course I could be wrong but I think I have a right to my opinion.

The opinion you stated in the post I responded to was completely unrelated to all of the blah blah in this new post. The opinion you stated was that a particular woman about whom you know nothing is "miserable" and in need of a good screw. I did not suggest that it was demeaning to recommend a book about sexual satisfaction. What IS demeaning is to attribute a woman's public policy positions to her inability to get sexual satisfaction.

Is it really not bad enough that women are shit on in this way by men, so that we must do it ourselves?

You have every right to your opinion. As I have to my opinion that your post was grossly offensive. You express your opinion, and don't be surprised when someone expresses an opinion about it, I'd say.

4. Group complains to IRS about Sioux Falls anti-abortion non-profits...

<snip>

The complaint, filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, alleges that the National Abstinence Clearinghouse and the Alpha Center — both headed by well-known abortion opponent Leslee Unruh — violated federal tax laws by failing to report lobbying activities.

6. Not only did Leslee Unruh violate non-profit rules by lobbying
She also used the federal funds she gets to teach abstinance to pay herself to lobby the state legislature.

She barely avoided prosecution several years ago for buying/selling babies in her adoption scheme.

She's certainly what we call "a piece of work" around here.
