UN observer's wife calls attack 'intentional'
The wife of Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener, missing and presumed dead after an Israeli attack on his UN observer post, has charged the bombing was "intentional."

"The building was clearly marked, their vehicles were clearly marked, they were clearly marked as UN observers," Cynthia Hess-von Kruedener told reporters Thursday.

"So why were (the Israelis) firing on that base? ... In my opinion, those were precision-guided missiles, so the attack was intentional."

She also said that Israel had attacked the area several times before, "for weeks upon weeks," according to her husband.

2. I do hope there is an investigation
the families of those who died deserve that. If Israel is, as she has said, innocent of intentional bombing, they should welcome the investigation.

3. Like when the UN HQ was destroyed in Iraq?
I'll never forget that. I knew who and why, in my heart. The PNACers HATE the UN,...so does Israel. They HATE the very notion of united nations because they want to rule the world.

9. I, too, hope the truth of all these things are revealed,....
,...and charges are pressed, prosecutions proceed, convictions applied, sentences carried out (in accordance with each state from which the defendant resides).

Great big huge hopes,...I don't breathe in,...but, imagine as the greatest gratification of my life because the world, the whole wide world would gain a grain of hope, again, in humanity and justice and democracy. The whole world would be inspired. I love imagining that!!!!

and they'll probably do again and claim that was a mistake too. Everybody knows how much neo-cons despise the UN.

7. 20 some years ago, Israel killed hundreds of Lebanese along
with a UN post, where they were seeking refuge. UN conducted investigation and concluded that it was intentional.

13. Harper doesn't think it was shelled on purpose
Olmert also called UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Wednesday, after the UN chief raised the ire of many by saying the bombing was "apparently deliberate."

Israeli officials deny such a charge, but an initial UN report suggests before the post was hit, peacekeepers called the Israeli military 10 times in a six-hour period to warn them the shelling was getting too near.

Harper said he didn't think the post was shelled on purpose.
When little Stephen Harper stood in the living room throwing a ball against the wall, and his mother told him ten times in six hours to stop doing that because he was going to knock over the lamp and smash it, and he knocked over the lamp and smashed it ... well, maybe we could ask big Stephen's mother how much she cared that he didn't do it on purpose.

"We want to find out why this United Nations post was attacked and also why it remained manned during what is now, more or less, a war during obvious danger to these individuals," said Harper.
Stephen would probably have asked his mother why she left the lamp there when she knew he was throwing a ball around.

Cyndi and Cynthia might make a good team.

14. The story of this is heartbreaking...
they called and called for hours TRYING to get Israel to stop attacking the CLEARLY MARKED UN building, but they would not.

I can't fucking believe that Bush and his cohorts refuse to insist on a cease-fire, until this can be solved diplomatically. It's a bloodbath.. and our fucking congress (all but a handful) came down with an endorsement of this slaughter.

Oh.. Bush won't call for a ceasefire because it may not be "lasting". Tell that to the children and the families who have been murdered since he refused to step in. We provide a hell of a lot of money and equipment to Israel, they aren't the boss of us.

This reasoning of **'s so stupid. It's like saying "Well I'm not going to keep my kids from fighting and killing one another because they're just going to fight again tomorrow." This is of course simplistic terms, but you must keep it simple when dealing with ** and his idiotic cult-like followers.

15. Israel says UN can't be part of probe of deadly attack on post
You didn't expect Israel to really "investigate" anything, did you?

Israel says UN can't be part of probe of deadly attack on post

Israel's UN ambassador on Thursday ruled out major UN involvement in any potential international force in Lebanon, saying more professional and better-trained troops were needed for such a volatile situation.

Dan Gillerman also said Israel would not allow the United Nations to join in an investigation of an Israeli air strike that demolished a post belonging to the current U.N. peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. Four UN observers were killed in the Tuesday strike.

"Israel has never agreed to a joint investigation, and I don't think that if anything happened in this country, or in Britain or in Italy or in France, the government of that country would agree to a joint investigation," Gillerman said.

<snip>

His refusal to conduct a joint investigation will be a slap to UN officials, who have specifically sought to partner with Israel to investigate the bombing.
