Energywatch: British Gas customers face £1,000 bills

Energywatch has said British Gas households will face annual bills of £1,000, after the firm announced a 12.4 per cent gas price rise yesterday.

British Gas was now the UK's most expensive energy supplier, the consumer watchdog said, with gas prices up 91.1 per cent since 2003.

Director of campaigns Adam Scorer pointed out: "This brings the total of increases imposed by the big six suppliers to 11 so far this year. Energy consumers will feel they are under attack."

He warned there was no end in sight, and advised customers to use online comparison services to find out whether they could save money by switching suppliers.

3. What I don't understand ....

Is why anyone continues to stay with British Gas? We had them as our gas provider when we first moved in our house. It was a nightmare. They are the biggest incompetent boobs I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

I dunno, my experience with NTL puts them in the top 3 worst bureaucracies I've ever dealt with. I cannot get them to take my money for an unpaid bill from a few months ago. They refuse to take it. I have no idea why. What kind of savage bureaucracy can't even take your money?
