Bush, Blair back multinational force

By JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago

WASHINGTON -
President Bush and British Prime Minister
Tony Blair said Friday they want an international force dispatched quickly to the Mideast but said any plan to end the fighting must address long-running regional disputes to be effective.

The leaders, standing side by side in the White House's East Room after meeting in the Oval Office, said they want to see a U.N. resolution introduced next week. Bush announced he was sending Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice back to the region on Saturday to negotiate the terms.

Bush said they envisioned a resolution providing "a framework for the cessation of hostilities on an urgent basis and mandating the multinational force."

"This is a moment of intense conflict in the Middle East," Bush said. "Yet our aim is to turn it into a moment of opportunity and a chance for broader change in the region."

5. Bush Sees a Chance for Change to Sweep Mideast
July 28, 2006

President Bush, vowing to turn conflict in the Middle East into a “moment of opportunity” for broader change, said today that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would be dispatched back to the region on Saturday with a plan for a multinational force that would help Lebanon’s army take over from Hezbollah in the southern part of the country.

Mr. Bush spoke this afternoon at a press conference with Prime Minister Tony Blair of Britain, who called the conflict a “complete tragedy” with innocent Lebanese and Israeli lives lost, people displaced, and a “terrible setback” for Lebanon’s democracy.

Mr. Bush said that the “root cause” of the problem was Hezbollah.

“For the sake of long-term stability, we’ve got to deal with this issue now,” Mr. Bush said.

“Moment of opportunity” Yeah, right. Just another opportunitey to destroy another ME country.

6. Those 2 glue babies 'envisioning'
a resolution when they are afflicted with complete blindness is ludicrous. Frameworks, visions, mandating, bullshitting. The glorious 'vision' is for broad change in the region. I say to Blabber Mouth and BooBoo: Good wine takes time, idiots, and you waste time on 'broader issues' when resolute action is needed now.

Bush urges Syria become active in peace for region

WASHINGTON, July 28 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Friday urged Syria to become an active participant for peace in the Middle East.

Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair were asked at a joint news conference their message to both Iran and Syria. Bush said Iran needs to give up its nuclear ambitions and as for Syria, he said: "My message to Syria is: Become an active participant in the neighborhood for peace."

Blair said both countries should either participate as responsible members of the international community "or they will face the risk of increasing confrontation."

11. About 60-80% realize he's a bastard. I'd reckon that less than 10%...
...follow the news closely enough, on this particular issue, to know that he's full of shit.

I bet about 30% can name last week's American Idol winner, though.

13. That's whats missing...
See everyone is aware that Bush's polls numbers sux and much of what he and his sick little army of neo-con criminals do is an eye to the poll numbers and upcoming elections?

Your observation is a perfectly normal and accepted.

How come when Olmert's pre-attack numbers were just as low (35%), if not LOWER, in Israel -- this is never part of the analysis? Even though the dude's coalition is held together with a thread and a prayer.

Hey Olmert's numbers went way up when he attacked Gaza and....oh Thought Crime -- Israel has a right to defend itself. Israel has a right to defend itself. Israel has a right to defend itself. Israel has a right to defend itself. etc etc

15. This is very funny.
First immense effort is expended to get Syria out of Lebanon.
Now they are begging Syria to get involved again.
Brilliant!

22. They want a do-over.
They have a childish mentality. "It didn't work, and thousands are dead, so lets push the re-start button."

They think war and peace is a game of Ms. Pac-Man.

Bush, Blair speed up diplomacy on Lebanon crisis

By Steve Holland Fri Jul 28, 2:32 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -
President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister
Tony Blair, pressured for a Lebanon ceasefire, sped up diplomacy on Friday for a U.N. resolution aimed at halting the violence and establishing a multinational force.

Bush announced Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice will return to the Middle East on Saturday to work with
Israel and Lebanon to "come up with an acceptable
U.N. Security Council resolution that we can table next week."

They also said an international force for Lebanon should be formed quickly to help speed delivery of humanitarian assistance to thousands of Lebanese displaced by the fighting between Hizbollah and Israel.

"We share the same urgency to stop the violence," said Bush, with Blair at his side in the White House East Room.

Both leaders have been resisting international calls for an immediate ceasefire, saying a settlement must address Hizbollah's influence in Lebanon and its attacks on Israel.

19. Bush waited until Israel's check cleared before he would offer any help.
Israel's armament and munitions landed just the other day
in the UK.

B&B waited for the wire transfer to come in from Israel
before they would even venture a plan for a cease fire..
