TYRE: In a twist of irony, Palestinian refugees in Lebanon have now become host to Lebanese refugees fleeing the relentless Israeli bombardments of the South. "No more sardines, no more rice, we just want our South back," demanded Huda Diab, a recently displaced mother of six who fled with her family from the targeted Southern town of Yareen, and arrived after three traumatic days "of walking and driving" at Al-Bas Palestinian refugee camp in Tyre
"The Palestinian people welcomed us and are sharing everything they have with us, while the government stands by and does nothing," said Diab, lying on the floor with her children near the entrance to one of the camp's schools.
Diab is one of the 500 families who arrived as "guests" of Al-Bas, which already hosts more than 5,000 refugees.
"We are refugees staying in refugees' homes, we understand each other. The South and Gaza are going through the same tragedy," she said.
