Israel Defense Forces killed two Islamic Jihad militants in the West Bank on Saturday, one of whom was the head of the group's military wing, according to Palestinian sources.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to halt the violence continued in Jerusalem. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was dining with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Saturday night, according to the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. Hours earlier, Israel rejected a U.N. call for a three-day cease-fire.

It has not been announced if Rice would travel to Beirut to meet with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.

The United States does not support calls for an immediate cease-fire. The Bush administration has said Israel must be able to sufficiently weaken Hezbollah forces or hostilities would only start again.

1. These reports are confusing

Israel has retreated yet Condi Rice is going there for "talks" and Bush does not support a cease fire. It seems to me that Israel is backing off with it's tail between it's legs.

This seems to me to be nothing but more "photo ops" and more marketing and more show on the part of Condi, do nothing, Rice with the clever mouth that says nothing and Bush--the stay the course of killing civilians and children because it will bring his distorted view of "freedom" and all sorts of good things to the ME, as long as they keep killing each other.

This Bush is totally whacked out and so is Condi , his mistresss in crime.
