Officer Allegedly Harasses Residents Over Measure
(AP) EL MONTE, Calif. The district attorney's office was investigating allegations that El Monte police tried to intimidate residents who opposed a failed ballot measure to increase police funding.

Residents say police cars followed them after they handed out fliers opposing the measure. One man claims he was pulled over and falsely ticketed for not wearing a seat belt.

Police Chief Ken Weldon dismisses the accusations but the Los Angeles County DA's office is looking into them.

1. Good little SS troopers. They fit in so well with the bush** regime.
Serve and protect now means threaten and punish.

4. That is exactly true.
I live in tiny town of white people. We are guarded by more police per person than anywhere in the state of wisconsin. That is what I read when I went to our local library. There was a survey there asking the residents of my community if we need more police. Many said no. I was surprised. But the response that we are policed more than any other community in Wisconsin was an eye opener. In the spring of 2003 everyone was commenting on the presence of even more police. They must of had to spend their homeland security funding to keep it rolling in.

3. nothing surprising here...
...back in 1976, when NJ was voting on casino gambling in Atlantic City, just about everyone who had a "Casino's--No Dice" bumpersticker on their car would be pulled over and harrassed; cops would pull people over just to rip the stickers off the car at one point. Now they have more mafia, prostitutes, drug dealers, drunk drivers and violent crime than they can handle, but since casino tax-revenue has pumped up police budgets and new hires, they're happy.
