Rice visit cancelled after deadly raids
<snip>

"LEBANON told US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today it could not meet with her before a ceasefire ends a 19-day-old Israeli offensive.

Lebanese officials said Dr Rice, who was due in Beirut later in the day, was told of the Lebanese position after an Israeli air strike killed at least 51 civilians in southern Lebanon.

They said Dr Rice's visit to Beirut had been cancelled.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora denounced the deadly raids as a "war crime", vowing there was no place for talks until Israel ceased its attacks.

"There is no place on this sad morning for any discussion other than an immediate and unconditional ceasefire as well as an international investigation into the Israeli massacres in Lebanon now," Mr Siniora said at a press conference."

3. Speaking of miserable failures ...

I'd be interested in the historical contrast and compare of Rice as Secretary of State.

As near as I can tell, she's managed to do nothing but piss off everyone whom she's encountered.

7. That's because, rather than diplomacy,
she shows up packing a serious of bogus commands and demands under the guise of being 'diplomatic'. :eyes:

6. Why is she even in the the region?
does rice really has any power. just a career woman who is excited (overwhelmed) by her high profile and likes to display piano skills.

She is a modern day slave representing racist neocon happy to have her exotic face in public. I have never seen her talk intelligently.

8. Condi is a failure of the greatest magnitude.
She has not a single diplomatic success to her name. Recall her immediately and charge her with war crimes.

9. I'm sure she still see no need for a ceasefire
otherwise she might actually have to go back and pretend to do something.

10. I am sure she doesn't!
What a charade this is! Condi is in the Middle East for ceasefire talks, and the only place she is going to be at is the very country that is committing war crimes in Lebanon.
