Reuters: Atomic incentives dead if UN passes resolution: Iran
Atomic incentives dead if UN passes resolution: Iran

Reuters
Sunday, July 30, 2006; 4:05 AM

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran said on Sunday it would stop considering international
incentives aimed at ending its uranium enrichment program if the U.N. Security
Council passes a resolution against its atomic work.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi also warned a resolution against Iran
would create what he called a deeper crisis in the Middle East, but he declined
to be more specific.

"If they issue a resolution against Iran, the package will no longer be on our
agenda," he told a news conference.

"Such a resolution would definitely not help solve regional issues and would create
a deeper crisis in the region," he said.

1. The "package" isn't on Iran's radar as it is.
Stand up to the bullying and pass it.

3. Iran's been ignoring it.
They've been jabbering for a year, the pot being offered to Iran keeps getting bigger, the incentives greater, and Iran keeps doing what it's been doing.

5. Iran has a right to nuclear energy. Who's bullying whom?
Iran should maintain its sovereign national rights. It's the US that's occupying foreign countries and killing left and right.

4. If Iran does get nukes will they get more respect?
It seems that this has been the way of it with the other countries that joined the club. If this is true what other incentive would out weigh this?

6. the resolution in question is illegal.
insofar as it contradicts completely iran's right under the non-proliferation treaty to nuclear energy. but of course, that doesn't mean a damn thing to BushCo.

i must add there is a certain hypocrisy in the US's sudden love of the UN when it comes to IRAN while at the same time ensuring the UN doesn't 'interfere' in the slightest with ISRAEL's latest plans.
