30. The Bush corporate cabal certainly has ulterior motives.
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 04:58 PM by tabasco
I'm sure the cease-fire will not last vey long. The cabal has the objective of neverending war for corporate profits.

The Israelis probably agreed to the cease-fire because the heat is hot for their neocon hero Herr Bushler.

45. I'm rescinding my compliment to Condi.
It looks like she didn't do a damned thing to help the situation. Israel's just decided to bomb Eastern Lebanon rather than the south. Fresh targets and all I suppose.

Thanks for keeping me on the wagon, Condi. I doubt I'll fall off again.

of something they are not prepared to deal with.
Unexpected Arab alliances forming as a result
of the recent civilian massacre.
Talk about a fucking hornet's nest and the neocons
just keep whacking it with their empire stick.
I am more than worried for the troops in Iraq right now.
Maybe the neocons stopped to think that
the American sheeple might just stop
grazing at Walmart long enough to get upset
if any mass attack on our troops was connected
to the US actions, or lack of, around the
situation in Lebanon?
It certainly wouldn't be because they cared about the troops there-
more like public opinion and all...elections are coming.

Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 04:15 PM by daleo
This may be a way of achieving this in stages.

On the other hand, it may just be a tactical pause. Pilots need rest, planes need maintenance, that sort of thing.

19. Thanks, CNN only has the banner
Let's stop the bombing and get the detainees released:

Before the Manchester demonstration, the father of one of the Israeli soldiers captured by Hezbollah fighters appealed for his son's safe return.

Shlomo Goldwasser said he was desperate for a "sign of life" following his 31-year-old son Ehud's disappearance.

Mr Benn told crowds at Trafalgar Square: "As we talk, women and children are being killed in the Lebanon by bombs sold and given by the US and passed through British airports with the support of the British government.

"What we are witnessing is a war crime committed by Israel with the support of the American and the British governments - that is the truth."

14. Not enough. We need complete ceasefire. We need to stop those
planes from US bringing Israel more death bombs.

Israel is still reserving their rights to respond to fire - which they will lie about.

The suspension is just for humanitarian aid and retrieval of those bodies they have already killed.

Israel agrees 48-hr aerial activity ban - U.S. official

Israel has agreed to suspend its aerial bombardment of southern Lebanon for 48 hours, starting immediately, to allow for an investigation into Sunday's bombing that killed 54 civilians, a U.S. State Department official said on Monday.

Israel will also coordinate with the United Nations to allow a 24-hour window for residents of southern Lebanon to leave the area if they wish, State Department spokesman Adam Ereli told a briefing in Jerusalem.

31. ONLY SOUTHERN Lebanon.
Israel will also coordinate with the United Nations to allow a 24-hour window for residents of southern Lebanon to leave the area if they wish, State Department spokesman Adam Ereli told a briefing in Jerusalem.

While suspending aerial activity, Ereli made clear that Israel had the right to "take action against targets preparing attacks against it", reiterating U.S. policy that the Jewish state has the right to defend itself against attack.

"Israel has agreed to a 48-hour suspension of aerial activity in south Lebanon to investigate today's tragic incident in Qana," said Ereli.

Israel agrees to 48-hour halt in IAF activity over south Lebanon to probe Qana strike

By Ze'ev Schiff and Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondents, and Agencies

Israel has agreed to suspend its aerial bombardment of southern Lebanon for 48 hours, effective immediately, to allow for an investigation into Sunday's bombing that killed 54 civilians, a U.S. State Department official said early Monday.

Israel will also coordinate with the United Nations to allow a 24-hour window for residents of southern Lebanon to leave the area if they wish, State Department spokesman Adam Ereli told a briefing in Jerusalem.

Some 37 children were among the dead in the IAF strike early Sunday on a building in the southern Lebanon town of Qana, Lebanese police said. Several houses collapsed and a three-story building where about 100 civilians were sheltering was destroyed, witnesses and rescue workers said.
