Reuters: Israel says hits 2/3 of Hizbollah's heavy missiles
Israel says hits 2/3 of Hizbollah's heavy missiles
Mon Jul 31, 2006 10:40am ET

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli forces have destroyed an estimated two thirds
of Hizbollah's long-range missile capabilities, a senior government official
told Reuters on Monday.

The Iranian-supplied Zelzal-2 missiles have been Israel's main strategic
concern during an a 20-day-old fight with the Lebanese guerrilla group.
They have a range of 200 km (125 miles) and are believed capable of carrying
biological or chemical warheads.

"We know how many of them we destroyed and we know how many they shot,"
the senior government official said.

"But one third (left undestroyed) is a lot. that can cause a lot of damage
if they are launched," the official said.

1. They know how many they THINK they destroyed.
A cardboard missile looks JUST like a real missile in the targeting camera.

21. He is supposed to say that stuff, there was a story here about it

Sorry, I can't find the DU link, but the news story link is

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2289232,00.html

Also you can go to

http://giyus.org/

and

http://www.beyondimages.info/

And there are some more that I can't find the links to, those two were on another website, but people go to these places to get information on where there are posts that either obvious criticism of Israel, or even just getting close, like suggesting that Israel does not know exactly how many rockets Hezbollah has, etc, and then they will send out people to call the critics out as anti-Semites and wanting to push Israel into the sea, and terrorist sympathizers.

I don't think most of them get paid. They look at it like community service, though, so it is kind of like their job.

5. What the FUCK?
Decoys are and have always been primary military doctrine.

No hatred of any sort is "leaking" by saying that.

I think you owe me an apology.

i'm quite surprised, so far Hezbollah claims were almost more reliable than those issued by IDF (regarding for example the situation in Bint Jbeil or Marun Ar Ras)

14. Can it stop now then?
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 01:04 PM by Solly Mack
Please?

Please?

I really want the dying to the stop and I don't get the thinking that says more dying is needed to end the dying...I really don't get that

Somebody is always alive to remember and from that seed of remembrance blooms more hatred...honest! that's how it works.

You can't "kill'em all", so someone will always remember and they'll tell their kids, who tell their kids, who tell their kids...

at some point, someone has to say enough! and talk to each other instead of perpetuating the hate and violence...

People who see their children and parents dying or maimed don't rightly care about anyone's politics or anyone's grievences...seriously...wars and hostilities start all the time and go on for so long, that no one knows how they really started or why they were fought - all they know is how it hurt them and that's all they can see... and that's true of the people on both sides of any conflict

whatever "point" any side had is lost among the carnage

24. Remember when NATO thought they'd destroyed the entire Serbian force
in Kosovo, only the be shocked to see 90% of the original armor and artillery roll back into Serbia proper at the end of hostilities?

I don't think anyone assessing damage from the air these days is credible. Decoys are too effective, and it's too easy to produce them
