Taiwan passes 'defensive' referendum bill

- Despite warnings from China, Taiwan's parliament passed a referendum bill Thursday that would allow the president to hold an independence vote if Beijing forcefully attempts unification.

The bill also allows the island to hold votes on changing the island's constitution and official name, the Republic of China.

Beijing has warned that such moves could lead to a devastating war.

A small 'terrorist' attack somewhere in China, then they 'link' it to Taiwan, then they invade Taiwan to 'root out the terrorists'.

Slight difference in this case. A world power -- namely the U.S. -- would come to the aid of Taiwan.
