Santorum sets off on campaign bus tour
Santorum sets off on campaign bus tour
From staff and wire reports
Monday, August 7, 2006

U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum announced Sunday that he is taking his re-election campaign on the road with a bus tour.
Santorum, the Senate's No. 3 Senate Republican, is embroiled in a tough re-election battle with state Treasurer Bob Casey, a Democrat. Recent polls place Santorum trailing by 6 to 12 percentage points.

The "Keep Up the Fight" bus tour will visit 28 counties in the northern and southwestern parts of Pennsylvania, plus the Johnstown area, by Aug. 14, Santorum's campaign said. The tour will continue visiting other regions of the state until the November election.

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA - U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum kicks off his “Keep Up The Fight” tour today in Pittsburgh.

But when it comes to election 2006, the Republican’s Lancaster County supporters are way ahead of the curve.

And so are those stumping for Lynn Swann for governor.

For the past several months, supporters from both GOP camps have teamed to promote a ticket they’ve affectionately dubbed “Swanntorum.”

16. "The Patriot" Harrisburg Pa has a similar article
They seem to be running a lot of "Santorum" news these days, hardly any "Casey " updates, it's becoming obvious they are trying to appease the right wing-nuts that dominate central PA.

7. Slimetorum has many millions of $$ to get out the vote. He is very
active. Casey is almost silent and is running a lackluster campaign with very little energy. Already Casey blew a 16 point lead to around 6. By October, he will have a problem dealing with the race. Too bad.

8. I didn't know Casey was not really campaigning. Too

bad the lead is disappearing. Money talks. Romney has been a bit of a no show in our state, Mass. for his governorship. But he has raised much $$$$$$$$$ for a run for Pres. and can give it a go even with little record as governor.

9. Santorum does have more money.
Casey has been doing a lot of fundraising so he'll have money for ads this fall.

Santorum is extremely disliked in western PA, and no amount of ads or campaigning is going to save him here.

11. I hope you are right about W. PA. I sense that he is not liked that much
here, but if he gooes on the road with Lynn Swann during football season, the love for the Steelers might be worth some percentage points in the polls. These people are nuts for the Steelers and anything about them.

12. I know what you mean.
It is the same thing with the Redskins and George Allen in Virginia. I am almost wishing for a lousy season for the Skins to deny Allen the victory photo ops.
