Ex-president speaks to nurse anesthetists meeting in Cleveland

...Clinton told the audience of 3,000 about the power of private citizens to make changes by demanding better health care. Among the changes he suggested were creating electronic medical records for everyone, not prosecuting Americans who purchase prescription drugs in Canada, and continuing the search for an effective way to provide universal health coverage...

Jessie Compton of Dallas, who will turn 100 next month, was certified as a nurse anesthetist in 1938. She said she remembers Clinton's mother bringing her infant son to conventions in the 1940s.

"He's grown up nicely," she said.
