Alameda County hospital labeled a 'trouble spot'
Psychiatric ward had raised red flags before fatal attack

Violence broke out more than 100 times last year and earlier this year at Alameda County's public psychiatric hospital, and two state agencies soon came knocking with questions about how the beleaguered center deals with unruly patients, a Chronicle review of records shows.

The county-run John George Psychiatric Pavilion in San Leandro is under scrutiny again after the slaying of the hospital's lead internal medicine doctor in a private exam room on Nov. 20. A 48-year-old patient, Rene Pavon, has been charged with fatally assaulting Dr. Erlinda Ursua, 60.

Last week's incident was the most severe since hospital officials earlier this year began documenting violence by patients on other patients and on staff, prodded in part by the state Department of Health Services, Cal OSHA and unions representing hospital workers.

The troubles at John George come as the Alameda County Medical Center, which runs the psychiatric center, Highland Hospital and other health care services for indigent and uninsured residents, is in the midst of a fiscal and management crisis.

not out on the streets or filling prisons. I remember

A Mental hospital stay it is a taste of totalitarian domination.

You have no rights in mental hospitals.. The sanctity of your body is moot because they can and will FORCE you to take drugs,sit in a little room and you don't have to be psychotic,just insubordinate to staff to be treated like this.Your autonomy is non existant.You can't cuss or raise your voice or laught too loud because everything must be"appropriate".
Shrinks will manipulate your emotions,staff does act like bullies,they have the same chain of command to avoid accountability like the military does.Be aware of the mindgames,behavior modification games and cocercion in these places. You have to ask permission to do most ANYTHING.You can't leave the ward without"escort" unless you have behaved enough (according to staff)to be worthy.Mental hospitals treat the wealthy patients better than everyone else.The place is set up to be an S/M scene disguised as science and 'help'. And not all people are into playing games with authoritarian personalities so deep into domination/submission scenes they aren't consious of it or if they are they'll never tell,This kind of environment is bad medicine for human beings especially when they are overwhelmed,hurting and vunerable .

This domination behavior modification routine is how our cocercive society enforces it's silly standards of normalicy.For those independant ones who make itthrough childhood and school and still haven't got with this'program'and have thier inner locus of control functioning,they get conditioned more abuse in the hospital. Our culture makes this unjust unequal society function by brreaking the free will, abusing the human integrity and crushing spirit until it's distorted into the shape of this bully culture,or until a person gives up and just accepts it as the way it is..

It's all about the biggest richest bullies and thier hold on control and thier cockeyed dreams of eugenics and engineering a master slave state utopia (thier version of democracy)where people do as thier told and wilingly let themselves be used up by any bully needing a target to put thier psychological toxins into.Wake UP!

I have seen staff bully sad,upset,stressed out,desperate people looking for compassion, help,and understanding for what is going on in thier life,Staff push them to the breaking point quite deliberately.
It's like they get off on it and get pleasure from this.

I myself faced barbaric abuses in a top rated hospital in this country as an adolesent /young adult in the 80's 90's.As an adolesecent mother could not visit me for a long time,when she was allowed to,her visits were supervised,she had no clue what they did to me until years later,when I got out and felt emotionally safe enough with her to tell her.I couldn't say anything in the hospital,with staff sitting,listening,and it was too upsetting to speak it,and if I cried the visit would end.

I have spent six months in a little cell.I didn't get to graduate from school because they would not let me go out of the cell.I was felt up by staff when in restraints in my underwear spread eagle,I bit the guy's hand and no one cared to help me,they just drugged me.I have been forced to undress in front of a bunch of burly men had my clothes removed by force by burly men,I was wrapped in cold wet sheet packs,And I was basically manipulated,belittled, bribed,cocerced, lied to, hit,attempted sexual assaults,threatened,detained and bullied and tortured"for my own health's sake".In state run "residential housing" the abuse went on in a different form.People were given norplant against thier will,and they were black people,I didn't meet any whites being forced to take norplant.I was choked by a staff who was high out of her gourd at work.And she wasen't fired dispite the bruised ring around my neck for all to see.

I went in the hospital in the first place because of my past. I grew up in an abusive home was raped by a pedophile fundy neighbor and my father was an abuser.It had some effects on me..Eventually after years of other diagnosis that were wrong,I was diagnosed dissociative,even though the abuse incidents were told by me early on and my mother had written it in my admission papers. I see the effects of trauma in my life to this day..Where these bad incidents for me occured was in a top rated private hospital ,A dissociative therapist,Dr Lowenstien, tried to convince me to lie about my own past,by filling in his story over mine.I chewed him out for it. I guess his manipulation was for political reasons(this was during the"satanic panic" stuff.)
At this same hospital,I was given anectine,if I was particularly resistant to thier demands.Anectine is a torture drug(I asked them what this drug was,before it went in,they said it was Anectine,kinda like thorazine.It isn't _at all_like thorazine.It's used for behavior control,torture,it's derived from cuare..I found out what anectine was after I did a net search yeas later when I got a computer.I looked because I was curious as to what drug they gave me those times.Anectine is made to create horrorific effects in people and the truth of what they did to me made me sick and so angry and there is no one to turn to.It was years ago.
The statute of limitations,considering trauma does fry your brain, and trauma memories are stored in different parts of the brain because of this brain cell frying effect, it protects entrenched powerful bullies and thier systems more than protecting people from the victims of bullies pretending to be victims to bully somebody..I still have nightmares about how that drug effected me.Here is a links to how anectine is used if you are curious..

The saddest thing is,people that find themselves in a mental hospital are the last ones to have the clearheaded resistance needed to fight this kind of awfulness when it is too much to bear,and everyone looks the other way because society finds it very easy to discount you because you are just crazy,paranoid or whatever.

It's easy for a bully in a culture that keeps them company to pick on the vunerable and dehumanized.
Many times I wanted to kill these people at the hospital abusing me with drugs threats and everything else in thier torture chambers to make me obey.
Yes I was suicidal and violent,at times in the hospital,that anectine made me very scared for my life.I tried running away(awol)and the cops draged me back,and didn't listen to what I said about feeling threatened.That's enough to make any teenager cut off from family and the outside get suicidal.I had trouble obeying these assholes because was reacting to trauma and threats in the past and in the present so it isn't surprising top me if patients kill staff in mental hosptals any more than abused people kill the worst bullies in prison eventually guard suit or prison stripes,a bully is a bully..People who are being abused sometimes snap when they can't take it anymore and cannot leave the abusive situation..


Don't forget,Hitler killed off the disaabled ,retarded ,and mentally ill first.Because it is they who had nothing to lose and everything to gain from being listened to.I don't see any government out there that actually has the decency to care for it's most vunerable,traumatized and hurting people,and keep the bullies out of the 'helping/ professions.Because all current human cultures are based in power vs deprivation,domination and cocercion.

There are many other hospitals as sick as this one all around this country.

This horror won't change until America changes it's heart and stops aiding and abetting bullies.People must get rid of that authroritarian fixation in our culture,and stop aping the sadistic greedy rich and inflcting behavior modification control games with threats and abuse on thier own kids and each other.
Please people recognize and reject the authoritarian game.It's the Only real human mental sickness,the oldest most pervasive human mental illness.The psych hospital is an abusive place more often than not and you PAY a hellova lot to go there to be abused,so don't go in there.
Get out patient help,go to peer created community based support groups in your area.(like on our own) And find a "dissident" therapist not tied into a hospital system.
It's a bit of leg work to find decent folks in the psych field.(many hopeful 'students' get jaded with pschology after doing internship at psych hospitals and leave the whole career because of the abuses they see)If you value what is left of your sanity,seek out sane help..
