German mayor bars eugenics lawyer

The mayor of a small German town has appealed to its people to buy shares in a hotel to prevent its purchase by a lawyer with an interest in eugenics.

Jürgen Rieger, who has convictions for incitement to racial hatred and has defended leading neo-Nazis, wants to buy the hotel in Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony, for £2.3 million through his London--registered company.

The company, Wilhelm Tietjen Foundation for Fertilisation Ltd, which is funded by the estate of a Nazi party member of that name who died four years ago, aims to preserve the Nordic race through fertility projects and surrogate pregnancies.

Mr Rieger, 59, who is an admirer of the British fascist Oswald Moseley, wrote a book on the benefits of racial purity in which he outlined his ideals. He wrote of his dream to produce "white giants" and the importance of wiping out the "disastrous effects of bastardising races".

2. The European Eugenics movement is interesting.....

because many "right to die" activists are in the same boat and favor euthanizing people who obviously cannot make a decent life in society and/or are in such physical pain that death is a good escape. There are 2 sides to the modern Eugenics coin. Not every advocate is a right-wing nutbag.

should be forcibly sterilized. Serial rapists come to mind straight off the bat. Also, junkies with 12 kids by 12 different men who dump the responsibilities of parenting onto us, the collective taxpayer. Sure, those are extreme examples, but they do exist, and should be treated as such.

What on Earth makes you think serial rapists will pass on a genetic proclivity to violence? What on Earth makes you think forcible OPERATIONS on people is okay?! Shouldn't the junkies 12 kids also be sterilized, if you think she is irredeemably genetically flawed? Will you volunteer to hold down the crying child for the surgeon's knife?

6. Once you introduce the idea that somebody's

reproductive destiny and bodily integrity is not thier own, it's nearly impossible to control where that idea goes. A lot of people in this country don't want to see gay people reproducing. The idea that people of color have as much right to thier families as anybody else is still fairly new, and the idea that people of subpar intelligence and the impoverished can't be forcibly sterilized by the state is very new.

How many people in this country believe that only white christian suburbanites are fit to raise children? More than you think, as anybody else who's tried to adopt will tell you (though if you're anything else, it's easier to get the kids nobody wants, the sick ones, the old ones and the brown ones- a lot of people don't care what happens to them if they don't have to pay for it anymore.)
