Gov. Ernie Fletcher could come to regret yesterday's court decision saying he won't have to face a criminal trial while in office, according to some lawmakers and political experts.
Senate President David Williams said yesterday the ruling was more bad news for Fletcher because it raised the "specter of impeachment" and only delayed but didn't end the prosecution. Last month he said he doesn't think Fletcher can be re-elected.
"If anybody ever gives him a nickname, it's not going to be 'Lucky,' " Williams, R-Burkesville, said.
Williams declined to comment on potential impeachment because senators are required to sit as jurors if the House passes articles of impeachment.
