Sheehan: Hospital stay won't stop me
Sheehan: Hospital stay won't stop me
By ANGELA K. BROWN, Associated Press Writer
4 minutes ago

WACO, Texas - Peace mom Cindy Sheehan spent the night in a hospital for a gynecological procedure and treatment of dehydration but said Saturday that wouldn't stop her protest against the Iraq war on land she bought near President Bush's Crawford ranch.

Sheehan was listed in stable condition at Providence Health Center in Waco, about 20 miles east of Crawford.

She said she could be released later in the day but probably would miss an afternoon barbecue at Camp Casey, the protesters' campsite named for her soldier son who was killed in Iraq in 2004.

"Everything will still go on," Sheehan, 49, told The Associated Press. "I hope I can get there soon."

The anti-war demonstration is to continue through Sept. 3, although Bush's 10-day ranch vacation is to end Sunday.

1. There is such a contrast between Cindy and that other mother
who has *ss's ear. Cindy is working for other peoples sons and daughters so that the killing can stop. The Michigan mother wants to know about HER son but thinks it is just fine that *ss goes right on killing other mother's sons.

Take care Cindy, you are a good mother.

4. She's been on a "liquid-only" diet...right
And down in Texas, I'm sure nobody likes her...I bet somebody put a little something special in her drink...

deplorable. at outlandish as it sounds, knowing those people, it wouldn't suprise me a bit.

6. And you think that the USSS doesn't follow her around?
They've been on her trail since this whole thing started. They just finally decided that her publicity had died down enough that they could get away with it.

But, like the rest of *'s administration, they are too incompetent to finish the job.

Seriously, ask yourself, if they are so willing to kill so many Iraqis who did nothing to them, what makes you think they're above trying to knock off a woman who's been a thorn in their side for this long?

17. If you can go, for even a short time, I highly recommend it.
Being around a group of people, working together for positive change, it can be wonderful.

24. Hmm
well DC is even easier for me to get to anyway...I actually haven't really taken a look at her schedule yet. Work has just been tough this summer, but I am hoping to get involved later in the year.

26. What are you doing in your own community?
You can do so many things right at home. We protest twice a week and we collect items for care packages for soldiers. Going to Crawford is a treat and it rejuvenates my spirit but what I do right here in my own community is what really matters.

11. I do indeed doubt that
and you're right...that was a deplorable thought. Being on a liquid only (or juice fast) left her weakened and she is in 100 plus degree with 90% humidity with no airconditioning. Heat exhaustion and heat sickness are no uncommon.

BTW Welcome to DU lgn19087 :hi:

12. At Camp Casey last year,
at first Cindy and all slept in makeshift "accommodations" -- tents in the ditches by the road.

But, later, by the time I got to Camp Casey, Cindy was in a trailer equipped with a generator, so I assume she had air conditioning. It was really hot -- that 95 to 100 degree stuff day after day really saps you.

They just started setting up last week at the new Camp Casey, on 5 acres, near the Crawford Peace House. I'm not sure whether she has access to air conditioning this time. I sure hope so.

Not only has she been fasting, but she just traveled to Jordan and back, so jet lag + the fast can't be easy for her.

Cindy was sleeping in a different place every night last August. And she is never left alone, ever.

18. I honestly doubt that
She is so well protected when she is in Crawford. She never goes anywhere alone and she is very well cared for. I don't see how anyone could get close enough to her to put anything in her drink.

15. I have to ask - what's with the fasting?
While I respect her dedication, I truly don't understand the fasting. Harming herself isn't going to bother or inconvenience Dubya - quite to the contrary, if she's out of commission, either weak or ill or worse, she won't be in a position to carry on all the good work she's been doing. Others might come after her, but she's the driving force. And we need all the active, powerful voices we can get. Hope she takes good care of herself from now on.
