Floridians think war has been handled badly
August 12, 2006

A St. Petersburg Times poll found that more than half of Floridians think President Bush has done a poor job handling the war in Iraq, an opinion that could spill over into this fall’s elections.

Fifty-four percent of Floridians statewide gave the president the lowest ranking possible, and 22 percent rated his war performance as "fair," the poll found.

Bush’s overall job performance was not significantly better. In the poll, 64 percent of Floridians rated his performance as poor or fair. Thirty-four percent rated him good or excellent.

"It's an abysmal ranking," said pollster Thomas Eldon, one of two pollsters the Times used. "You get a sense that the people in the survey want to see this resolved in a positive fashion. They just have lost confidence in the Bush administration’s ability to conduct this war."

1. Good. They're waking up. Age is on many Floridians' sides. I
hope they're getting it. My dad is a FL snowbird, and he does.

7. This poll was taken when all the snowbirds are gone too...
the #'s will probably bounce back in bush's favor when they return. I know not all snow birds are republicans, but the vast majority that I've met are very conservative.

5. Excuse me
Us idiots voted for Gore and Kerry. Katherine Harris gave the election to Bush, not us.

6. 74% rate Bush as poor or fair on the war in Iraq
And yet somehow, being against the war in Iraq is the far-left loony position, so far outside the mainstream that it beggars any other description, according to the talking chuckleheads of the media.

9. this poll doesn't really say much...
...unless it's broken down into how many are dissatisfied because the war is wrong (the much, much smaller percentage, i imagine), and those who believe the war is proper and necessary, and are just offended by the incompetent management thereof. In this context, these results don't necessarily bode well for anti-war Democrats, but arguably do benefit pro-war Republicans.
