Bush huddles with economic team as growth slows
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush will wrap up conferring with his economic team on Friday on ways to keep the economy growing against a backdrop of higher interest rates, mixed data and fears of rising inflation.

His closed-door meetings with new Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and Director of the National Economic Council Allan Hubbard, began on Thursday evening at the Camp David presidential retreat.

"The President and his economic team will be talking about the general macroeconomic picture and job growth," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.
...
Bush is scheduled to speak with reporters at 11:15 a.m. EDT on Friday.
...
"The president doesn't need to meet his economic advisors in order to learn one simple truth," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said. "For millions of hard working middle-class families, life under Republican rule has grown less affordable and less secure."

time trying to figure out how to get the nearly century old estate tax taken off the books, rather than talking about ways to really help America's economy.

Or if they aren't feeling up to that anymore, they might be talking about how to reduce the highest tier income tax and raise the lowest tier. Or maybe some other way to get more money from the withered middle class or the growing poor.

As in he is PISSING his pants. The only thing that they have really bragged about in their misadministration is the economy (which we all know is a mess) and their war on tarr'ism.

Once the major papers and news sources (and many already are starting) start dropping the big R for recession word, the already low consumer confidence will drop even more. Problem this time is that there is low interest rates to refinance, there aren't suckers out there to buy your $200k house for $400k, there are no low rates for a home equity loan, there are very few morons left to take a 50 year ARm loan.

Tax cuts have been given and we are broke. What next to help the economy there Bushie?
