Sheehan hospitalized after surgery in Waco

WACO, Texas -- War protester Cindy Sheehan was recovering in the hospital after having a hysterectomy Tuesday, her spokeswoman said.

Sheehan had surgery at Providence Health Center in Waco, about 20 miles from land she recently bought in President Bush's adopted hometown of Crawford, where her war protest has been going on the past 2 1/2 weeks, said her spokeswoman Tiffany Burns.

Sheehan, 49, of Berkeley, Calif., is expected to be hospitalized several days and then rejoin the peace vigil. It will continue until Sept. 3, although Bush's August vacation ended earlier this month after only 10 days.

4. She has carried a lot of weight on her shoulders. No one else has
come up to the plate to take on this administration like she has and then naysayers criticize every little thing she does. A true American. Screw the naysayers.

The war is still on.
Americans and Iraqis are still dying.
Bush hasn't met with her.
Bush hasn't answered her question.

Hang in there, Cindy!

10. Texas in August is no place to recover
I have lived here most of my life an I know the 107 degrees with 80% humidity and sun is not healthy for anyone.

Her inner circle needs to be looking after her. She has done enough. She does not need to end the war by herself. She does not need to fight every battle.

16. yep -- this is kinda where i'm at (HER-ocism)
the physical part of this surgery is major enough. the brand-new body chemistry is wholly another issue. is there anything that men go thru that even comes close? i mean -- what she's on deck to do is HER-oic!

17. Hopefully, her family will step in
and take her home to recuperate. I live up the road from her home in Vacaville and while it's still warm up here, it's not 107! I know she's feeling poorly and it is time to let others take up for her until she's better. She's so driven by her love for her son and the horror of this unnecessary war. I'm so proud of her but it's time to take a break!! We need her to conserve her strength.

11. I hope those around her will keep her off her feet for awhile.
A hysterectomy knocks you on your ass in a way you cannot anticipate. I haven't had one (thank god), but many of my friends and family have, and it really puts you out of commission as your body adjusts. Too many women I've known have come back a week after surgery and thought, "oh, I'm all better," only to get knocked on their ass again when they didn't take it easy.

Those of you down in Crawford--please look after Cindy. She's a tough one to slow down, but she really needs to take care of herself for awhile.

13. Tell me about it.
I didn't have an external incision, which made me feel like I was in pretty fair fettle -- then I got some sort of intestinal bug.
I wanted to die. Literally. If I'd had the strength to crawl into the kitchen for a knife I'd have slit my own throat.
Twenty years and I still remember that feeling.

Somebody should tie that lady down if she won't stay down on her own; at least for a week or so.

You're so right. Cindy's pals will want to keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't overdo it. Cindy strikes me as the type who'd try to get up too soon. I've witnessed how hard hysterectomy can be on a woman's body. I hope she doesn't try to be heroic.

Edit: K&R

19. I hope
She recovers quickly. That is very serious surgery and can be very rough on a woman. Did the head chimp send her flowers? :sarcasm: Should we send her flowers......

And be careful. You've made them mad, and they're out to get you. Don't for a second let your guard down.
