Report: Trans-Atlantic flight diverted to Bangor (Maine)

BANGOR, Maine — A trans-Atlantic flight from Manchester, England, was diverted to the Bangor International Airport on Friday, officials said.

American Airlines Flight 55, a Boeing 763 en route to Chicago, was diverted for security reasons, said Arlene Murray, New England regional spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, who declined to elaborate.

Police confirmed that there was an incident at the airport but provided no details. Federal agents were headed to the airport.

1. I expect much more of this kind of thing

How many planes have been diverted in the last 2 years? I can't remember very many. But now that we are less than 75 days from the midterm elections I believe this will be a weekly occurance. Maybe it happened a lot before but there was no need to publicize it.

Now with the elections looming it's time for constant threat downs.
