CNN.com to replay 9/11 attacks coverage
At least it's just their website, but here they go "reminding" us of what it's all about....
NEW YORK - CNN will mark the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks by replaying on the Internet the cable network's coverage of that day's events.

Viewers can watch how events unfolded starting at 8:30 a.m., minutes before the first reports of an airplane hitting the World Trade Center. The feed will run in real time, as the network showed it five years ago, until midnight.

For the day, CNN will make its online video service, CNN Pipeline, available for free. Normally, viewers pay $2.95 a month or $24.95 a year for four separate video feeds.

Online viewers will be able to watch live reports of memorial services through one of the feeds. So that viewers won't accidentally stumble upon graphic footage from 2001, the replay feed will be covered with a notice instructing users to click only if they want to watch.

"Our users may choose to view the stream of coverage from Sept. 11, 2001, or live coverage of memorial services at Ground Zero, or they may click through the numerous interactive elements on the site," said David Payne, senior vice president and general manager of CNN.com. "They have the power to determine the best way for them to remember the anniversary."

1. As I have shown, people need not worry about the "9/11 effect" for Bush

4. that's fine
If Democrats are afraid that a simple revisiting of a historical event will be some kind of a favor to Bush, we have problems much deeper than we can solve in one or two election cycles.

5. Why would anyone want to relive that?
I still can't bear to watch footage of the planes hitting the towers. I was a young woman working in NYC that day. I don't wish to dwell on the grind of that day's events.

6. good
I want to see it again. The horror was so great on that day, when I watched it live from the time before the second plane could be seen coming in, that I am sure I missed some important information on how the media was interfacing with the WH and the disinformation that was being spread. I will be watching it to analyze the performance of the press. It will be very difficult, for sure.

8. Since I was stuck in Lower Manhattan from 8-11 that morning
I'd be interested to see it...

First hit: Chambers and Broadway
Second hit: Wall Street and Broadway
First Collapse: South Street and Governour's Lane
Second Collapse: On-ramp, Brooklyn Bridge from FDR Drive

Bush my have usurped my constitutional freedom. HE WILL NOT USURP MY HEART. HE WILL NOT USURP MY SOUL.

10. See, they're not a real news network
They're just there for entertainment like HBO. I've been saying this for years and now I feel they prove my point.

Some people will want to watch this again, which is fine. However, you cannot convince me that this is news.

11. years ago,
NBC released the first 4 hours of the JFK assassination as it happened. The recorders were not working the first few minutes, but it was an amazing experience to watch Huntley, Frank McGee, and another gentleman report news live and without the ridiculous embellishment and hokey nonsense of the idiots on today. A&E used to show it at least once a year.

Interestingly, NBC does not show its coverage of 9/11. I see that MSNBC pulled it from You tube.

14. Doing their part to help the GOP, but maybe it'll backfire
People are now remembering Bush's reaction during Katrina, which may be refreshed by Ernesto. That might make the retrospective view of Bush and 9/11 a different thing than the view of Bush at the time.

Or maybe it'll work, and the result will be a Republican landslide in November, even without the help of rigged voting machines. Sigh. It's so hard not to be a pessimist.

15. I wonder if they'll replay the ones that disappeared down the memory hole,
like the interviews with rescue workers and engineers immediately post 9-11 who stated it looked like a controlled demolition. Or the ones with the alleged hijackers who were found to be alive and well in UAE, Saudi Arabia and other parts of the world, working as pilots of airlines and such. Or the ones that reported on the bin Laden family members flown out of the country. Or the ones that reported on the Israelis who were picked up with the van photographing and celebrating the tower collapse and then quietly sent back to Israel after a short detention period. Lots of stuff disappeared down the memory hole. Will we see it again?
