Harris attempts to defuse controversy
Harris attempts to defuse controversy

ORLANDO · Rep. Katherine Harris sought Saturday to smother a campaign brushfire stoked by an earlier claim that failure to elect Christians to public office would allow lawmakers to "legislate sin."

Harris, appearing at a gun show in Orlando, said she did not mean to offend non-Christians in her comments to the Florida Baptist Witness last week. She explained that she referred exclusively -- and repeatedly -- to Christians because she was being interviewed by the weekly journal of the Florida Baptist State Convention.

"My comments were specifically directed toward a Christian group," said Harris, a Republican senate candidate from Longboat Key.

25. She's spent millions of dollars and all she's got to show fur it is...
Moxey and Spunk!

When they aired up Mixie and Spunk some of that high pressure air went to her brain. The airheaded possum queen is the best that the GOP has to offer in Florida.

Maybe Hooters has a spot for a gal like that?

9. That is so true..
It's not even that she's focusing on a topic that is relevent to the crowd she is talking to. It's "Okay, I'm speaking to the Baptists today so I'm going to push for a Christo-facist government, then I'm talking to Planned Parenthood and I'm going to push to make choice enshrined in the US Constitution"

Dear God, the woman is a Hoover... sucking up to everything and everyone.

5. It'll do her no good to speak at a gun show, either
She's already demonstrated that the Bill of Rights is nothing but a plaything to her.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Katherine+Harris+crazy

1. Katherine Harris crazy

(n.) As insanely optimistic as Congresswoman Katherine Harris. Usually characterized by an overly optimistic estimation of someone's chances of achieving success.

Did you hear Jim just bought 500 dollars in lottery tickets? That boy is Katherine Harris crazy if he thinks he's going to hit the jackpot.

7. She can't have just suddenly gone batshit crazy. She has always had
the seeds of this brain-dead 'W-like' insanity planted in her brain.

So how the hell has she made it as far as she has?

8. She is still tailoring her message to the audience of the moment.
This time, she's trying to soften it for an offended general public.
She hasn't really taken back the outrageous things she said.

She pandered to the base just like all too many of her fellow Repubs.
And she went waaaayyyy overboard. Some half-hearted clarification
is not going to clean up this mess.

10. OK, Gun show = pandering to Christians
Got it. Now, kindly explain to me, what the hell you stand for? Against "legislating sin" (cool!) but what about something substantive?

And I know you didn't mean to offend anyone, but frankly, I don't care what you "meant" -

What's your position/platform?

Aside from not allowing the legislature to "legislate sin" and avoid offending "non-Christians."

And get a clue: a platform appealing to Americans needn't bi-sect along "Christian" and "non-Christian" lines.

Rove lied...again!

11. That's even worse.
As a patriotic American I take huge offense to a duly elected representative of the people to the government advocating that only people of a particular religious persuasion qualify to be elected to represent the people who are a multitude of races, religions, and national heritages.

It's even worse to hear her justify her comments by saying she was speaking to a Christian group. That's not just pandering. It implies a private agenda to deliberately attempt to foist an unconstitutional religious litmus test for office.

How much of the Constitution are these people wanting to scrap? (That's a rhetorical question.)

12. You know...
....its almost becoming too painful for me to watch. Almost.

From The Avante' Garde Theatre production of:

"Decent Into Madness"

Act III, Scene 2 (the dénouement)

ME: Ummm... Katherine? Listen, I don't think you should...

KATHERINE: Oh shutup! Who ARE you anyway? Didn't I just hire you? Aren't you just supposed to run errands?? Where's my coffee?? You think you're here to advise me? ME!?!?!

ME: No, I was just trying to warn...

KATHERINE: WARN?!?! You warn me? Why I'm Katherine Harris. I MADE A PRESIDENT!!! And I have MILLIONS!!! I DO!!! Well, one day.... And anyway, I know what's best for Katherine Harris and don't you forget it buster! Who let you in here?

ME: Okay, go ahead. Plug it in, but I don't think even this can charge life back into the campaign.

KATHERINE: Oh go to hell.....

...we see her get asked a question that she cannot possibly answer without showing herself to be a double-talking, self-centered, self-serving bitch - and just rips her shirt open to show us the twins?!

I really think it's comin'.

22. Weird. In order for her excuse to be true, she'll have to say this-
when addressing a Muslim audience (for example):

"(F)ailure to elect Muslims to public office would allow lawmakers to legislate sin.....Allah chooses our rulers...voters needed to send Muslims to office....Allah did not intend for the United States to be a nation of secular laws."
