Bush job approval at 40%

http://news.yahoo.com/s/rasmussen/20060828/pl_rasmussen/bushjobapproval20060828_1

Bush job approval at 40% rasmussenreports.com

Forty percent (40%) of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. Fifty-seven percent (57%) disapprove.

The President earns approval from 43% of men and 37% of women.

Despite the President's low ratings, Republicans may be able to retain control of the Senate following this year's elections. Rasmussen Reports has made three shifts recently in our Senate Balance of Power ratings but the bottom line remains the same… Republicans 50 Democrats 47 Toss-Up 3. This assessment will be updated frequently through the season as warranted by new polling data. To see our latest results, check out the Election 2006 summary page.

...

Rasmussen Reports data shows the Democrats' lead in the Generic Congressional Ballot shrinking from earlier peaks. Other firms have shown a similar trend since Ned Lamont defeated Joe Lieberman in the Connecticut Senate primary. Still, the survey includes data that both sides can spin as good news.

1. Republessen Reports previously had him at 42%, after the London terralert.
This is a return to the dismal status quo.

I'll bet their latest Senate head count doesn't include the George Allen meltdown.

2. Good. Razzie is a Republican Poll
And the real polls have him in the 36-38% range.

Bush bounces don't last.

15. Rasmussen (R)
You are correct. Out of ten polls that I have seen, this is the only one over 38%, most being at 36%. An outLIAR poll if ever I've seen one.

6. Bullshit, yes. But that is good, in a way.
Because Razzy is so firmly Republican. Even worse than Gallup. Subtract several points, and that is what the real numbers are. Why do you think we've only been treated to Rasmussen polls lately? Give us a REAL poll, and you'll see some numbers that have never been seen by an American president before.

8. Well, it's a Rasmussen poll, and Rasmussen likes its Republicans.
I'd swipe off at least 4% right out of the gate.

And even at 40%, it's a sorry-ass approval rating. Are we supposed to quiver in fear that at any moment Dubya is going to spend that political capital supply he boasted of after cheating Kerry-Edwards in Ohio?

17. No, it's not. And I don't think we should allow them to get away with
these bogus polls anymore. They make it appear as close to 50% as possible to make stealing the elections plausible. Raswmussen needs to be investigated.
