US Official Says Iran is 'Central Banker of Terror'/ VOA
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 12:14 AM by TexasLawyer
Here is some official USA propaganda for you.

This says "The U.S. and other Western nations accuse Tehran of secretly trying to build nuclear weapons." Is it "the U.S."that is accusing Iran of this or just the same neo-con cabal that pimped the Iraq war and now wants to widen it?

And according to the non-war-pimp authorities, Iran is many years away from nukes, even if it wanted to build them, which it denies.

US Official Says Iran is 'Central Banker of Terror'
By VOA News
29 August 2006

A U.S. anti-terrorism official says Iran is providing money to finance terrorism carried out by the militant group Hezbollah - calling the country quote - "the central banker of terror". In an interview with the Associated Press Monday, Stuart Levey said Iran is a country that has terrorism as part of its budget.

Levey - the U.S. Under-Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism - spoke as Iran faces a Thursday, August 31 U.N. deadline to stop enriching uranium or face possible sanctions.

Separately, the United States confirmed it will issue a visa to former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, who has been invited to speak next month at a multi-faith seminar in Washington. Khatami, considered a moderate among Iranian religious leaders, had advocated dialogue with the U.S. during his term in office, which ended last year.

The U.S. and other Western nations accuse Tehran of secretly trying to build nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear program is for generating electricity.

1. And in 2002 it was Saddam that was the banker of terror!
I trust the United States government as much as I would have trusted Hitler's Third Reich.

Is this the sordid propaganda to which the Voice of Amerika has sunk?

3. It wasn't Hezbollah that caused a massive oil slick in the Med. or
uprooted a million Lebanonese people.

There is one nation in the middle east that a) has refused to sign on to the nuclear weapons non-proliferation treaty and b) has a massive arsenal of nuclear weapons (4th largest in the world, more likely than not)

That would be Israel.

4. What about Osama bin Forgotten?
This would be laughable if the consequences weren't so dire.
In 2002, the Bushies said strikingly similar things about Saddam.

Al Qaeda is as the root of most terrorist killings. Hezbollah is not
al Qaeda. Neither was Saddam and neither is Iran. The Bushies just
refuse to keep their eyes on the ball.

8. Did we freeze all their assets yet?

I am wondering because it seems like that is one of the things we usually do before an invasion, but I think we would have to make some exceptions about Iran because I read somewhere that Halliburton company had already gotten some kind of oil contract there and there might be some other American companies that would want to get in on the business opportunities from the invasion. But I guess the companies that are not in the group with them would get frozen and have an umbrella of terror sympathy suspicion or something if they wanted to have business with Iran.

9. If Iran is really Hezbollah's sponsor, it's a pretty piss-poor sponsor.
I kept reading about WWII vintage rockets that couldn't even be aimed. What else did this dastardly central banker provide? Shovels? What kind of sponsor provides 60-year-old arms against maybe the most sophisticated military on earth! Hezbollah also kept threatening Israel with some super-duper rockets. What happened to them? Must have been lost in the mail between Iran and Lebanon.

Hezbollah should fire Iran's sorry ass.

Or maybe it's all BS.

11. Ridiculous.
The statement has no foundation on reality.

If the criteria for measuring degrees of "terrorism" include the numbers of people killed and the amount of money and resources invested to that end, no existing entity on earth can approach the lofty position held by the United States government.

Iran is as a pimple on a gnat's ass compared to the United States when it comes to "terrorism".

14. Bunk: "Here's terror, there's terror, everywhere there's terror, terror"
What a lame pile of crap.

Call Bin Laden/Al Queda "terrorists", borrowing the Israeli jargon for its enemies.

Then call Saddam/Iraq "terrorists".

Now Iran a "bank of terror".

If I could cut out their friggin' despicably lying tongues I would.
