Latino state senator asks Chafee to denounce Republican ad
August 28,2006

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Hispanic member of the General Assembly is asking Senator Lincoln Chafee to denounce a T-V ad supporting his bid for re-election.

The ad criticizes Cranston Mayor Stephen Laffey for allowing his city to accept Mexican identification cards.

Chafee and Laffey are running against each other in the September 12th Republican primary.

State Senator Juan Pichardo says the ad run by the National Republican Senatorial Committee unfairly portrays Hispanic immigrants as threats to national security.

Chafee described the ad as accurate during a Saturday night debate with Laffey.

1. Wtf? Why would any city in America accept easily forgable foreign
identification cards? Maybe Laffey is trying to make it easier for illegals to live in Cranston so that the wealthy there can have their cheap labor?
