Zogby: Gov's race begins to tighten; Lieberman still ahead by 10 points
Zogby found U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, a New Haven Democrat running without his party's endorsement, leads Democratic nominee Ned Lamont of Greenwich 49.4 percent to 39.4 percent, with 2.1 percent going to the Republican nominee, former Derby Mayor Alan Schlesinger. Lieberman held a 12-point edge over Lamont in an Aug. 17 Quinnipiac poll.

That same poll had Rell, a Brookfield Republican, leading DeStefano - fresh off a Democratic primary win over Stamford Mayor Dannel P. Malloy - 60 percent to 28 percent.

Quinnipiac had surveyed 1,083 voters deemed "likely" to vote in November after a series of screening questions.

Lamont spokeswoman Liz Dupont-Diehl declined to comment about the Zogby poll. The Lamont camp consistently has said it is not basing its decisions on poll numbers.

2. In my experience, CT folks are socially liberal
but fiscally conservative.

Lieberman is drawing support from both well-to-do Dems and most of the Republicans in the state. Whereas Lamont is basically getting anyone in CT who opposes the war.

9. Is it fiscally conservative to
have a war going on in Iraq while giving massive tax cuts to the super wealthy?

My fiscally conservative, socially liberal, Republican husband thinks this administration is spending money like a drunken sailor.

10. See -- the people from CT that I know are mainly
Super wealthy Wall Streeters who live in Greenwich and other assorted Yale grads who are doing quite well for themselves in legal or media careers.

So, yeah, they vote for the guys who give the tax cuts to the super wealthy -- cause they are wealthy.

I suppose when I said "fiscally conservative" what I actually meant was that they vote for conservatives for the tax breaks. It's that difference between the actual meaning of the word "conservative" and the political meaning of it.

I guess you'd get the same thing with an "ecological conservative". Does that mean they are actually trying to protect the environment? Or that they are systematically destroying it?

14. economically right-wing. economic pre-FDR liberal.
I'm not fond of the liberal/conservative terms when used with economics because conservative economics in the 1930s are Democratic economics and liberal (Herbert Hoover) economics are and have always been Republican economics. The parties switched on social issues, not economic issues.

That's against DU rules, of course, so you may wish to make it clear so your post doesn't get deleted.

31. The only place i can vote in is in California .
I thought the whole idea was to have democrats get control of congress. Unless Lamont has a miracle finish, your going to have Joementum as your senator, again except as an Independent.

As far as my post being deleted, it won't be the first time.

23. I'm not so confident with Zogby as I used to be
I dunno...I've answered every one of Zogbys surveys they've sent me since 2004, and I've always reported I'm a Connecticut resident, and I have NOT ONCE gotten a survey regarding the Lieberman/Lamont race, or even a survey with ANY questions regarding CT candidates. You would think that I'd have been polled at least once about the primaries or even the general....but NO not at all.

If Zogby's not asking an actual CT resident...then who ARE they polling? These results are very suspect to me that's for sure

21. If Lieberman had won his primary, that's exactly what I'd be saying.
However, he's running to defeat the primary winner and making the party look split and weak.

I hear you, though.
