United States warns of security problems for Americans in Gaza
From Ha'Aretz, emphasis mine:

Americans are unsafe in the Gaza Strip, and those in the area should leave immediately, the State Department said Tuesday.

Continuing or possible violence in Israel, it said, also makes it necessary for Americans to avoid locations associated with U.S. interests or official U.S. buildings, the State Department said Tuesday in an updated travel warning.

Even Americans and other people working to help the Palestinians should be wary, the warning said.

--snip--

"In recent months, citizens of Western nations, including Americans, involved in pro-Palestinian volunteer efforts were assaulted and injured in the Occupied Territories by Israeli settlers and harassed (by the army). Those taking part in demonstrations, nonviolent resistance, and 'direct action' are advised to cease such activity for their own safety," it said.

1. They're not kidding. Darn right it's dangerous.
I just see nothing here about the State Department actually trying to STOP this. Just about how Americans should stay away and be successfully intimidated and frightened away by a US ally.

3. "assaulted and injured" "by Israeli settlers and harassed (by the army)."
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 10:43 PM by BeHereNow
Translation:
Your tax dollars have gone to arm the IDF;
the ME arm of American led Empire and quest
for hegemonic control in the ME.

In return, you, the tax payer, are assaulted and injured
by Israeli settlers and the IDF.

Got it?
Good.
Now go back to sleep while
BushINC, the neocons and the criminal congress
fuck you in the ass.

Now repeat after me...
"Israel has the right to defend herself against innocent
Lebanese, Iraqi, Iranian and AMERICAN civilians..."
Remember Rachael Corrie?

8. ...
"Violent demonstrations and armed conflicts between supporters of the Hamas and Fatah factions, and clashes between the Israeli army and Palestinian militants have increased in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank," it said."

Stop with the ignorant propaganda!

victims of terrorism from Israel...
What say thee now Bushco?
Still going to protect Americans against terrorism???
Even when it is inflicted by your war puppet called Israel???

As a taxpayer who has seen my tax dollars go to
pay for this shit- I demand action.
(AS IF I had a voice in the madness called "congress.")

5. WTF? Is no one grasping the implications of this story?
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 11:57 PM by BeHereNow
AMERICANS are now not safe from Israel in
Gaza???
Hello???
Did everyone fail to notice what Israel
did to Lebanese civilians who just
happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Can you say..."KATRINA'd"

In case you are unable to connect the dots-
This warning is the Bushco way of saying,
"We take no responsibility for what happens to you
in case you get in the way of Israel, our war puppet."

Katrina.
"We are not responsible for the people in hospitals
and without cars when Katrina hit the gulf..."

Good lord, I can't believe more DUers are
not OUTRAGED by this story!

And I wonder what happened to the Americans in Lebanon
who could not evacuate???
We NEVER did hear about them again, did we???
WTF???

6. It's clear that US concern for Israel's war on the Palestinian takes
precedence over the safety of their own people.

They could reign in Israel in about 2 minute if they chose. But they are too busy making more enemies around the world, just like Israel is.

11. No. What is clear is you didn't understand the article.
The first paragraph states:

"Americans are unsafe in the Gaza Strip, and those in the area should leave immediately, the State Department said Tuesday."

This clearly shows that the US government is concerned for the safety of its people!

I find it interesting that you would even suggest that the US "reign in" Israel, but such a notion about Lebanon doing the same to Hizb'allah, well that would be wrong to suggest. Hell, it is wrong to suggest that the PA reign in the militants in Gaza and the West Bank because, after all, they were "democratically" elected! See the hypocrisy?!
