Bush says U.S. in a war it will win

SALT LAKE CITY - President Bush on Thursday predicted victory in the war on terror at a time when Americans are disillusioned with his strategy, likening the struggle against Islamic fundamentalism with the fight against Nazis and communists in the last century.

Bush chose a friendly audience in a conservative state to begin a pre-election series of speeches touting his war strategy. The three-week campaign is centered on the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

"As veterans you have seen this kind of enemy before," Bush said. "They are successors to fascists, to Nazis, to communists and other totalitarians of the 20th century. And history shows what the outcome will be.

A day earlier, Bush said his speeches are not designed to be political speeches when he was asked if they might have an impact on the congressional elections just over two months away. "They‘re speeches about the future of this country, and they‘re speeches to make it clear that if we retreat before the job is done, this nation would become even more in jeopardy. These are important times, and I seriously hope people wouldn‘t politicize these issues that I‘m going to talk about."

1. What war would that be?
The war to get our country back from the fascists?, surely not the one where we attacked a country for no valid reason and opened it up to run terrorism boot camps.

"I seriously hope people wouldn't politicize these issues that I'm going to talk about..."

So, only he can politicize them.

3. He's correct.

6. There's the "f" word again. Interesting that the
Bush Crime Family have chosen "fascism" - a subject they know well - as the meme du jour and new bogeyman to scare the ignorant masses.

What a crock of shit.

8. Pickler is pickled
"Bush has been successful at winning over supporters in previous war-speech campaigns, when he invokes the memory of the Sept. 11 attacks and portrays today‘s fighting as an extension of that ideological battle."

Oh, REALLY? Keep talking Preznit Pooter -nothing tanks your numbers quicker.

10. I once had a student in English 101 who was, to put it bluntly,
inadequately prepared to do college level work.

She wanted desperately to go to Annapolis, so she repeatedly announced to me that she absolutely had to get a 4.0 GPA that sememster (her first in college). Getting less than a 4.0 was simply unacceptable--it had to be a 4.0.

She ended up with a 2.0 that term, and was probably lucky that she had fairly generous teachers in all of her classes.

But what struck me about her was her childlike magical thinking. She really seemed to believe that if she said it hard enough and often enough, it would happen--it had to happen. Until she actually got that 2.0 GPA, she could not even imagine that there wouldn't be a sudden last-minute rescue for her.

BTW, her father was a fundamentalist minister (and missionary), and she had been largely homeschooled with simplistic materials, which is why she was so unprepared to do college level work.

But I believe that BushCo's (i.e., not just Bush's, but his whole administration's) insistence on "staying the course" and on the notion that we will "prevail" somehow is very much like that girl's insistence that she would get a 4.0 because she had to get a 4.0.

18. The war -- you know
Like the Bush administration won Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. You know . . . "win"? Now, some people say Bush and his administration don't have a plan, a clue, or a chance, but by golly, those people will be laughing out the other side of their guantanamo when Chimpy strides manfully down Pennsylvania Avenue, holding the head of terror out in front of him, brandishing it like a trophy. Then you'll all be sorry you made fun of such a manly, resolute leader. That is, if you're not already sorry George W. Bush is our leader.

"Win" is a meaningless concept when you invade a country. Eventually, you get kicked out.

16. The Busholini's Regime new line of attack upon America.
This Regime has been studying Herman Goering and is lead by Remsfailed, who advocated the Illegal Invasion of Iraq right after the 911 Attack. Will the majority of Americans buy into this BULLSHIT?

24. Taxpayers are paying for *'s campaign trips
Bush said his speeches are not designed to be political speeches when he was asked if they might have an impact on the congressional elections just over two months away.

This is even more brazen than what he did during the 2004 election, where he'd combine a brief "non-political" appearance with a purely political event -- a GOP fundraiser. The GOP had to pay the government a small fee for the added event, but the vast majority of trip expenses were paid for by us.

And this doesn't even include the costs to the communities he visits, which have to pay for police overtime and shut down businesses and government offices during the visit. In one instance *'s visit caused $2.5 million damage to the airport runway.
