G.O.P. Seen to Be in Peril of Losing House
After a year of political turmoil, Republicans enter the fall campaign with their control of the House in serious jeopardy, the possibility of major losses in the Senate, and a national mood so unsettled that districts once considered safely Republican are now competitive, analysts and strategists in both parties say.

Sixty-five days before the election, the signs of Republican vulnerability are widespread.

Indiana, which President Bush carried by 21 percentage points in 2004, now has three Republican House incumbents in fiercely contested races. Around the country, some of the most senior Republicans are facing their stiffest challenges in years, including Representative E. Clay Shaw Jr. of Florida, the veteran Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee; Representative Nancy L. Johnson of Connecticut, a state increasingly symbolic of this year’s political unrest; and Representative Deborah Pryce of Ohio, the No. 4 Republican in the House.

Two independent political analysts have, in recent weeks, forecast a narrow Democratic takeover of the House, if current political conditions persist. Stuart Rothenberg, who had predicted Democratic gains of 8 to 12 seats in the House, now projects 15 to 20. Democrats need 15 to regain the majority. Charles Cook, the other analyst, said: “If nothing changes, I think the House will turn. The key is, if nothing changes.”

19. Or "we have 2 months to work"
and that is the key. Let us not sit back and anxiously await election day. Let us go out and find our local Dem HQ or a Dem candidate we really like and get to work!! All candidates need all or most of the following: volunteers for phone banking & canvassing/lit. distribution, lawnsigns displayed in as many places as possible, letters of support to the editors of local papers, house parties/any kind of gathering where the candidate can meet lost of voters. Also, everyone needs funds. Donate, or if you're able, put together a fundraiser.

There is no end to the amount of stuff we can accomplish during these last two months. WE should do all we can to affect positive change within our own neighborhoods and across the country.

Julie

A nifty way to make up for that WEAK moment, when they had a Shrub to their heads.

5. Either we are going to gain no more than 10 seats in the house....
or we are going to gain at least 30. If there is truely discontent with the way the country is going, the Dems should be able to get alot of seats in both chambers.

Democrats can win:

House: 213-240
Senate: 47-53
Governorships: 25-32

6. The GOP is at a distinct disadvantage because their candidates
generally suck and their president is a vacuous moron.

And that's on top of their being on the wrong side of every domestic issue in the last 6 years and in cahoots with Dubya on the Iraq disaster.

And just when you thought the whole house of cards was already plenty shakey, some of them fanned the flames with racist insults and ethnic slurs, such as Cement-Head Allen's "macaca" remarks last week.

And nevermind Katherine Harris. She's a train-wreck genre all to herself.

If the GOP has a bad year at the polls this November, they earned it richly.

7. Dont worry, al qaeda and rove will get together and cook up something
to get the election close enough to steal in enough places to keep a slim majority.

We must tell everyone we can, far and wide, to expect another attack, to expect more threats, to expect rovian tactics, and precondition them to reject such tactics as further failure, not bait to run back to the right. Conditioning the public works.

Tell everyone you can to expect something bad and condition them to see it as failure of Bushco.

We must keep the margins wide enough to make them impossible to steal.

Democrats to loose.

Way to much time left and much work to do.

I fear these articles with induce complacency within the ranks.

11. It ain't over til it's over and the fat lady hasn't sung yet.
Now is not the time to get to cocky. It would suck to have your words thrown back in your faces in November by Republicans. Then there would be some major league wailing and gnashing of teeth here. Let's save the tough talk for when after the game is won. I just don't like tempting fate. Plus, as Stalin said, "Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything".

14. We can expect something very evil to happen.
They will never give up power. They will nuke us first. We need to make sure the sheeple start hearing that BEFORE it happens. then when it happens, whatever it is, it will have the OPPOSITE effect.

Nope.

Nothing evil needs to happen.

Sarah Brady (Republican) will get Ted Kennedy to reintroduce his bill to outlaw all hunting ammunition.

That will make sure the Republicans hold on to the Congress.

Then we can be whining about "Black Box Voting" next January while the Republicans are swearing in.

No, the stupidest thing you've ever heard is:

"common sense gun control."

That's why the Democrats get to sit in the cheap seats and watch the 'Pubbies destroy the country.

The republican who is my state rep came by my house campaigning yesterday. I wasn't home and my son told him I was working for the guy (a Dem) running against him. He said, "Well I hope your mom knows I am not a conservative Republican." LOL

16. they (BushCo) will not allow this to happen . . .
they'll do whatever they must to retain control of both houses of Congress . . .

we had better be prepared to challenge the official vote counts in many key areas . . . and even that may not do any good . . .

these people are VERY powerful . . . and they have no conscience . . .
