E&P: 9/11 Film Airs Abroad -- Here Are Edits -- More Changes in U.S.?
Editor&Publisher: Controversial 9/11 Film Airs Abroad -- Here Are Edits -- More Changes in U.S.?

....The two scenes that received the most attention this week were one involving a near-attack on bin Laden's camp in Afghanistan called off by Clinton aide Sandy Berger, and the other in which Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was fingered for tipping off bin Laden about a missile attack by notifying Pakistan in advance.

The Berger scene, E&P observed via YouTube, remained largely intact -- at least for New Zealand -- but no longer shows him ending the conversation by suddenly cutting the phone call. It does drop some of the on-the-scene shots from Afghanistan that underscored how close we were to bin Laden's camp. (That may be because, according to the 9/11 Commission, this specific episode did not take place.) The scene still cuts directly to Afghan rebel Massood calling Americans "cowards."

The Albright scene has new dialogue, and some old dialogue cut, but still indicts her for telling Pakistan about the attack, as required since cruise missiles had to go over Pakistani territory and might have set off nuclear fears, Albright explains.

Another key scene, in which a composite CIA agent named "Kirk" complains about Clinton's lack of action, is now softened somewhat in the dialogue. A sharp line about the administration viewing terrorism as just a "law and order problem" now appears to be missing. But the scene still cuts to the president's famous assertion that he did not have "sexual relations" with Monica Lewinsky. In the new edit, however, Richard Clarke, the terror expert, now says that Clinton's people had assured him that the president was not distracted from terrorism by the sex scandal.

Again: This was the New Zealand edit, as clipped at YouTube, and could possibly be different in the U.S. Sunday night. It is also airing on the BBC in England and in other countries.

1. So, how are they *adding* new dialogue at this point?
Surely the actors can't all be available on last-minute duty. Would this suggest that other dialogue was prepared in advance?

2. Oh, that's a GOOD little question.
I'd like to know, too.

The footage will have already been shot, or to answer your question: yes.

10. Looping...
They bring in an actor or a sound-alike, and usually use a reverse angle shot where their mouth is not visible...or use a reaction shot of another character with the speaking actor off camera.

4. In the UK
it ran the full advertised period which was 8pm to 10.40pm. As a result I have to assume that if it was edited then substitute inserts would have been needed.

7. Farhenheit 9/11 hasn't been shown on FreeTV
Nor has Michael Moore worked hand-n-hand with Scholastic, a major corporpation in the Education system, to put together an educational packet about the contents of his movie.

If I want to see Fahrenheit 9/11 I would have had to bought a movie ticket (I did twice) or now rent or buy the movie (I own it). If I want to see ABC's 'docudrama' Path to 9/11 I just need a functional working TV that gets some reception. I don't need cable, I don't need to buy a ticket, just need a TV

This isn't censorship - this is propaganda. Anyone who wants to see this film unedit with the lies it has created probably supports the already 'proven-to-be-incorrect' concept that this is all Clinton's fault

9. The After-Effects of Media Consolidation
The media gets to pick and choose which information gets to the public and how it's distributed. This is what happens when you concentrate the media into a few conglomerates.
