King of Tonga Dies at 88
I am wondering if there will be a power struggle in Tonga now that the King has died. It will be interesting to watch (or at least for those of us who served in the Peace Corps there).

1. sounds like there will be a power struggle
over whether the monarchy will continue. The last time I remember hearing about the King of Tonga was when Princess Diana was getting married, and he wanted to bring his own chair to her ceremony.

2. There certainly could be a power struggle.....
If the pro-democracy groups and the royal family get into it over who succeeds the late King....

Interesting story......

Not the sort of thing you read every day......

5. Oh sad. And you are right about the power struggle
I live in SLC and lots of Pacific Islanders live in this area. Some royalty...

I hope everything stays peaceful in their transition.
