Apology given in Sunday parade incident
Political group says announcer censored its words

The president of the Nevada City Constitution Day Parade Commission issued a public apology Monday to a political group whose complete statement was not read at Sunday's parade.

"I want to apologize on behalf of the commission," said Commission President Dennis Cassella. "Apparently the announcer didn't read the Americans for Constitutional Integrity's entire statement, and he should have."

...

The ACI's pre-approved statement scheduled for reading during Sunday's parade reads:

"Americans For Constitutional Integrity - dedicated to protecting the Constitution of the U.S., activating the impeachment process defined in the Constitution, and impeaching President George Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney for high crimes against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights."

Announcer Paul Matson, former Nevada City councilor and mayor, read part of the ACI's statement Sunday, but stopped speaking after "Constitution of the U.S."

1. Apologized after the crowd went home...
possibly worse than none at all. The message did not get to the intended audience while in the proper setting and frame of mind. But, by apologizing, asses are covered?

Sounds like announcer Paul Matson is a pretty big ass.

4. Yeah, a Constitution Day Parade -- dedicated to everything except ...
protecting the Constitution by using its provisions to impeach the bastards who have been trying to destroy it.

5. Navada City is in California's Fourth District....
John T. Doolittle's turf. The district tends to be a little, well, they keep reelecting the ass, and I suspect the omission was very deliberate.
