World Bank, regional lenders to share graft evidence

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The World Bank and four of the largest regional development banks agreed on Sunday to share evidence and use common methods to probe corruption, but not all of them plan to publish companies' names.

The agreement is another step in World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz's drive since last year to stamp out the abuse of development funding by people who syphon off cash for personal gain.

"We're running into some legal problems," said Asian Development Bank auditor general Peter Pedersen, who tracks 66 countries.

"If we put them on the Web site, that's actually slander or libel in some of the countries," he said, referring to the naming of companies.

the world bank it going to blackmail all the companies that don't play nice with them. As the legal extortion of third world nations continue via the high interest loans to 3rd world counties continue via the world bank, these same 3rd world countries try to cut corners by hiring local companies to do the local work, so said country has a better chance at repaying their world bank debt. That's a no no according to wolfopig and his mafia henchmen. The can't have countries actually having that ability, otherwise they won't beable to squeeze them by the balls when they want something. Just what were these 3rd world countries thinking???
