Santorum, in Tough Re-Election Fight, Slams (Literally) Newspaper

<snip>

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, Pa., report that Santorum, who trails Democrat Robert Casey in most polls, referred to his "rocky relations with the press" as he moved from room to room to attend regional caucuses earlier at a GOP state committee meeting in a hotel in East Pennsboro.

Later he refused to talk when a Patriot-News reporter, Brett Lieberman, approached with a question about Iran -- and again complained about what he called biased coverage.

"I have to raise tens of millions of dollars because of the junk you feed the people of Pennsylvania," he said, according to the paper. It added that he "then used an expletive to describe the coverage and slammed down a newspaper."

27. This is flat out wrong....
The patriot News runs many more articles on Santorum than Casey and they are all positive articles. It's the old GOP tactic of accusing the media of being "liberal" biased so they no longer cover anything critically but just repeat campaign slogans. Damn, the Patriot News should run the article about Santorum taking the dead fetus home for his young children to bond with, bet you many Pa residents never heard that one about Santorum

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A61804-2005Apr17.html

"Upon their son's death, Rick and Karen Santorum opted not to bring his body to a funeral home. Instead, they bundled him in a blanket and drove him to Karen's parents' home in Pittsburgh. There, they spent several hours kissing and cuddling Gabriel with his three siblings, ages 6, 4 and 1 1/2. They took photos, sang lullabies in his ear and held a private Mass."

"He and Karen brought Gabriel's body home so their children could "absorb and understand that they had a brother," Santorum says. "We wanted them to see that he was real," not an abstraction, he says. Not a "fetus," either, as Rick and Karen were appalled to see him described -- "a 20-week-old fetus" -- on a hospital form. They changed the form to read "20-week-old baby."

28. I knew this asshole was sick but...
...that's a whole new ball game! Kinda like Norman Bates with his mom in the "fruit" cellar.

Did he have it stuffed and mounted above the fireplace?

Anyway, we need to keep an eye on the Santorum brood: that kind of family setting could easily result in serial-killers, rapists, pedophiles...you name it

4. Yo Pennsylvania, is rick drinking?
Maybe he should take a few days off and fly down to the dominican republic with limbaugh (to spread those "christian" values.) Or maybe an afternoon with rintintin will ease his restless heart. Such a shame how ricky gets so wrapped around the axle when someone tells the truth. He must be a republican huh?

However, I don't see him doing that. He'll miss his family too much. That's why he lives in Virginia most of the year. That's also why they have that huge mansion. Maybe Ricky should fly to Thailand. They also have a booming sex trade.

19. I thought he lived in Virginia because "he's from a football family"
No--wait--

That's the other lying sack of shit Republican Senator that gets to blame everything on "I'm from a football family".

Poor Ricky, he has to "raise tens of millions of dollars"

"he has to live in a mansion in Virginia"

"he has to have PA pay for his kids education"

"he has to kiss the ass of all those mean terrible lobbyist"

makes me wonder why he would even want to be a Senator. Just quit you "walrus looking piece of shit" "If god wanted you to be a Senator, he'd have miracled your ass up there"

31. The Harrisburg Patriot-News isn't the Philly Inky or the Pittsburgh
Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 10:23 AM by Penndems
Post-Gazette. It's a right-wing rag. Very little balance in the pieces published.

The P-N has posted story after story where the reporter has done nothing but drool over Lynn Swann and Jim Matthews, while writing pieces disparaging Ed Rendell. Many of its readers are exactly the type of individual who would cast a vote in favor of Rick Santorum.

For The Senator to crack on a correspondent for this particular newspaper is downright laughable. The majority of stories the Post-Gazette has published have been very effusively pro-Rick.

What a joke. :eyes:
