Judge in Saddam's Genocide Trial Ousted
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- The chief judge in Saddam Hussein's genocide trial has been replaced, Al-Iraqiya state television reported Tuesday. The station did not say why the change was made, but the Arab satellite stations Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera said Judge Abdullah al-Amiri was replaced at the request of the Iraqi prime minister.

Prosecutors had asked for al-Amiri to be replaced after he allowed Saddam to lash out at Kurdish witnesses.

And last week, al-Amiri stirred further controversy when he told the former president that "you were not a dictator."

4. When the judge
Makes it clear he's taken sides, he must be removed.

8. A judge
is supposed to be an independent arbiter of the facts. This judge was supposed to be dispassionate and he wasn't. A judge who appears pro-Hussein or anti-Hussein has prejudiced the case.

11. He made an obviously FALSE statement that
favored Saddam.

Any judge who gets up on the bench and LIES on behalf of the defendant should be seated with the defense lawyers.

14. This is the second judge ousted--this "trial" is a joke!
Saddam should be tried by ICC at The Hague. Iraq doesn't have an independent judiciary.
