U.S. Contractor Killed by Rocket in Iraq
09.23.2006, 07:52 AM

An American contractor working for the State Department was
killed in a rocket attack in Basra, the U.S. Embassy said Saturday.

The contractor was killed in an attack on the city, 340 miles
southeast of Baghdad on Friday, the embassy said in a statement.

"As a member of our embassy community, this American citizen worked
toward assisting the people of Iraq build a stable, democratic, and
prosperous country," said Daniel Speckhard, the U.S. Embassy's charge
d'affaires. "On behalf of the U.S. Embassy and the entire American
community in Iraq, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies
to the family and friends of our colleague."

No further details were released.

1. Uh-huh.
"this American citizen worked toward assisting the people of Iraq build a stable, democratic, and
prosperous country"

If that were so, then we'd have a name, job description, and praise from the people he worked with.

No Sale.

2. It wasn't in the boiler plate response and
bush appointees on the ground didn't have the necessary equipment to insert further info, and they were busy looking for armor plating in the dump.
