Anti-Gay Bishops Vote To Split The Evangelical Church In Two
So, let me get this straight. They hate gays with such venom that they want to split off from their church - a church which supposedly follows Christ, who taught us to love everyone.

Makes the head spin.

Anti-gay bishops vote to split the evangelical church in two
By Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent

LEADERS of the Anglican Church’s conservative wing took the first steps yesterday in creating formally a new Church structure for anti-gay evangelicals in the United States.
After meeting in Rwanda, archbishops from the 20 African and Asian provinces in the Anglican “Global South” grouping said that they understood the “serious implications” of their decision.

But they added: “We believe that we would be failing in our apostolic witness if we do not make this provision for those who hold firmly to a commitment to historic Anglican faith.”

The primates will now push for a two-Church solution in the US. This could serve as a model for Anglican provinces elsewhere with liberal majorities and strong conservative minorities, such as in England, Wales and Scotland.

They are to develop an alternative Anglican structure in the US for the seven episcopal dioceses who appealed this year to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, for alternative primatial oversight.

2. Headline, IMO, is MISTAKE -- Anglican Church will be split...
by evangelicals leaving it. Headline should read: "Anti-Gay Bishops Vote to Split Anglican Church in Two."

10. I have recently started taking my family to the Episcopalian
church in our neighborhood and I gather the fundies have already left before we starting coming. However, there may still be some dissension within the group and I am just waiting to see how it plays out.

7. Ahmanson and his pals should be happy
Ahmanson poured a lot of cash into destroying the Episcopal Church. I hope he's happy with the result.

12. He won't destroy it.
They haven't got the numbers, despite his cash.

And those of us who believe in a "radically inclusive" church will carry on.

8. So they want to create the 'All Gays Must Die Anglican Church'.
I wish them no luck whatsoever in their evil endeavor

9. the article focuses on the conservative stances on gay folk.
but they were going to split ANYWAY because of the issue of the ordination of women.

which came before the issue of ONE gay man raised to bishop.

11. This was orchestrated quite a long time ago
And centers around allowing the bigots to hold onto church property by creating a parallel structure that will be recognized as legit.

As you say, there's no whiff of Christ's love in this -- just an opportunity to codify hate and make a grab for the property at the same time.

Now if the ABC would just grow a backbone and tell them all to shove it... Yeah, I'm not holding my breath.
