Victims of U.S. attacks on cities still await compensation

Thousands of victims of U.S. attacks on Iraqi cities, towns and villages are furious because they have so far received nothing for the destruction of their houses, property and the killing and wounding of relatives.

...

Before, during and in the immediate aftermath of these invasions, U.S. and Iraqi officials make big promises to the civilian population. They vow to reconstruct the destroyed cities and handsomely pay for casualties and damage.

...

The neighborhood of al-Jibriya is perhaps among the most affected in Samarraa. U.S. bombing of the neighborhood has turned Mohammed Nadeem’s life into tragedy:

“U.S. warplanes bombarded my sister’s house. The bombing turned the house into heaps of debris. We had to dig up the corpses of my sister, her husband and three children from the ruins. We have submitted several applications for compensation but to no avail,” Nadeemd said.

Stories like these are probably behind the mistrust many Iraqis have towards the U.S. occupiers. Confidence in America and its occupation troops in the country is at a very low ebb.

1. But, but they've got freedom from tyranny, religious zealots and attacks!
Or maybe not.

2. The relatives of 30,000 Nicaraugan civs killed by the USA have been
waiting for years for the compensation the US was ordered to pay by the World Court when the US was found guilty of those deaths via state terrorism.

The restitution funds sit frozen by the US to this day.

Good luck, Iraqis.
