Justices not best lawyers, Ginsburg says
WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says members of the U.S. Supreme Court "are not necessarily the best lawyers in America," but they revere the court.

This reverence leads justices, no matter who they are, to "make sure we don't do any damage" to the court as an institution," Ginsburg, 73, told the CBS News program "60 Minutes" in an interview broadcast Sunday, the day before the court's new term begins.

"And that means none of us can project our will singly on the others," Ginsburg says.

The only remaining woman on the court after Justice Sandra Day O'Connor retired, Ginsburg said she wished other women had been appointed to the bench.

1. They don't want to do any damage to the court? They already did, in 2000.

BTW, how happy will Bushco be to hear that the Supremes don't want to damage the court? They're trying to nullify them, and all other courts.

3. Pay attention to these words - Ginsberg is a very bright woman
She almost never comments publically on the court. She is trying to help save the court, and we should pay attention. Also, she has stayed on the court all these years while her health has been compromised.

She deserves our respect and admiration.

Peace.

4. Ginsburg is a Heroine
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 11:22 PM by MannyGoldstein
She and most of the rest of the Supreme Court are the only people who have worked successfully to thwart Bush's absolute power grab.

The Congressional "Dems" (other than Feingold, Conyers, and perhaps a few others) have been invertebrate triangulators - they are not fit to launder Ginsburg's robes.

5. She is most likely aware..
The court will be the next branch of government to go.
If Bush is allowed to continue his quest for dictatorship.
