Vt. (Republican) campaign aide accused of plagiarism
MONTPELIER, Vt. - A speechwriter accused of plagiarizing material used by the Republican U.S. House candidate resigned Monday after other campaign staff confronted him about information found on the Internet.

"There was not a way he could continue with us," Martha Rainville said of her campaign. "This is certainly not acceptable. Plagiarism in any form is very serious, and there was no need for it."

The similarities in Chris Stewart's speeches and other politicians were first reported by the "Reason and Brimstone" blog, which is maintained by Julie Waters of Westminster. Waters, 39, cited three matches she found using searches in the Internet search engine Google.

Some of the material had appeared on the Web sites of U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y. and U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper (news, bio, voting record), D-Tenn.

3. Anything that damages
Rainville's campaign is fine with me. This is a close race. The dem, Peter Welch, is a really good progressive guy. I really, really do not want my state to elect Martha Rainville.
