Bush says pundits 'underestimate Florida voters' on Foley replacement

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- Gov. Jeb Bush said today a lot of "talking heads" on television -- especially Washington pundits -- underestimate Florida voters when they predict that the Republicans can't hold the congressional seat of disgraced ex-Rep. Mark Foley.

Bush said he will campaign for state Rep. Joe Negron, who faces an "extraordinary challenge" in a five-week race against Democrat Tim Mahoney for the District 16 seat. Since Foley resigned last week, after the primaries, Negron's name won't be on the ballot -- but Foley's will -- and a vote for Foley will count for Negron, who was chosen by the Florida Republican Party at a caucus in Orlando on Monday.

Bush said he was "disgusted" by the e-mails and instant messages Foley sent to a former House page. He said he never had any inkling of Foley's conduct.

...

Talking with reporters before a Cabinet meeting today, the governor disagreed with predictions that ballot confusion will hurt Negron. He said the round-the-clock news reports about Foley will help inform voters that, although his name is on the ballot, he isn't the Republican nominee any more.

Course they didn't know of mark foley's acting on his "rapacious desires" then, thanks to hastert and his coverups. One would like to think they felt a little dirty right now.

25. Florida Republickers gave Batshit-Crazy Kathy Harris her Primary
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 10:58 AM by IanDB1
Just because the Republickers molest children is no reason to expect that they'll lose support of their base.

In fact, there are Republickers whose kids have died in Iraq, whose only regret is that they don't have another child to sacrifice on the Altar of Halliburton.

There is even one Republicker who was left legless and homeless by the Iraq war, and then when Homes for Our Troops (Michael Moore is a major sponsor) put a roof over his head, he turned-around and sued Michael Moore for making it seem like he said he'd been left Behind by our Glorious Leader.

Republickers give their kids to congress and say, "Molest my child one more time, and I'll just blame the Liberal Media!"

Capitol Hill is now The Wonderland Ranch for over-privileged children of wealthy lemmings.

George W. Bush could have raped one of those Snowflake Babies, right on the podium, and The Republick Party would have just accused Democrats of "playing the rape card."

Why wouldn't Repubs keep this seat?
I'd be surprised, very surprised, to see them lose it. Just because the ticket is headed by a pedophile doesn't mean Republican voters will desert their party. To many, voting for a pedophile's replacement is far better than voting for a Democrat (which they consider to be a pervert by definition).

Republicans won't punish Republicans, simple as that. Ergo, they keep the seat. Don't for a minute think that conservative Florida voters are fed up.

Think how the challenger will feel...being beaten by a child molester.

31. I'm amazed that Crist is way ahead of Davis
in the polls on the FL gov. race. And given the rumor that Charlie is gay himself.

Does this mean that it's politically correct to run as a gay Republican in Florida these days?

I don't have any problem with the sexual orientation of candidates , but Foley pushed the limits of tolerance when children became involved. Even for the extreme liberal voters out there.

I am saddened that the traditional Democratic stronghold of Florida is no longer a reality these days. It may have as much to do with Northerner immigration as it may have to do will rigged voting here.

I don't think the Repugs can swing South Florida as easy as they are implying, even with a little help from Diebold.
