U.S.: Iran navy not prepping for war

WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- A top U.S. Navy official said Tuesday Iran's navy shows no indication of preparing for a war with the United States.

"Their activity is normal," said Vice Adm. John W. Morgan, the deputy chief of naval operations for information, plans and strategy, at a breakfast with reporters in Washington.

The White House maintains it is looking for a diplomatic solution to stand off over Iran's development of the fissile material that could be used in a nuclear weapon. However, the U.S. military is updating plans in the event the U.S. president calls for a strike on Iran's uranium enrichment facilities.

"Of course planning continues across the entire spectrum," said Morgan.

2. Bush will have the U.S. strike force fleet sail into the Persian Gulf
...on Oct 21st and run a Japanese style Pearl Harbor sneak attack against the Iranian Navy and then bomb all of Iran's critical power plants and other infrastructure critical targets and then claim Iran as the new U.S. conquest in the middle east.

3. Bush the Bully comes riding into town
And it's a "good sign" that a sovereign country is NOT taking measures to protect itself.

This is pretty sickening

6. U.S. intelligence is very good
The U.S. intelligence on Iraq was correct.

The problem is that it was ignored, cherrypicked and fabricated by Cheney and the neocons.

8. Iranian Navy?
This Iranian Navy:

Unlikely to have any ships left soon after the start of hostilities, although the missiles could be a threat.

9. This is exactly what CSIS and MILNET conclude:
Don't underestimate these guys. No cakewalk here.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard's land based anti-ship missile force combined with the capable high speed and maneuverable surface fleet make a deadly and near unpredictable asymmetric attack capability that creates an enormous threat to the Gulf.

A smaller, but as capable force is also maintained in the Caspian Sea along the Iranian northern border to that body of water, and thus Iran can create havoc there as well.

Thus it is MILNET's analysis that the Iranian Navy, despite its small size and underwhelming Naval Warfare bulk, remains a clear threat to the Persian Gulf -- CSIS analysts echo that conclusion as well.
