Missouri High Court Weighs Voter ID Law
http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/story/558A8256C3FA2C7E862571FE0013EDCA?OpenDocument

Missouri Supreme Court judges sharply questioned the state's new voter ID law on Wednesday, with some judges comparing it to an unconstitutional poll tax.

Concerns at an hourlong hearing revolved around the $15 to $30 cost of a birth certificate, which Missourians must obtain before seeking the state photo ID required for voting.

Judge Ronnie White said $15 would be a stretch for people who can barely afford a bus pass to get to work or milk to feed their families. Other judges noted that a $1.50 fee was declared an illegal poll tax in Virginia in 1966.
