Streisand snipes at Bush in concert
PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Barbra Streisand opened her first U.S. tour in 12 years on Wednesday with a show that ridiculed her political nemesis, President George W. Bush.

Before a capacity crowd of some 16,000 people at South Philadelphia's Wachovia Center, Streisand gave assured renditions of standards from her long career as a singer and actress including "Funny Girl," "Come Rain or Come Shine," "Love Soft as an Easy Chair," and "Somewhere."

The show also featured a skit where an actor playing Bush uttered such lines as, "I'm concerned about the national debt, so I'm selling Canada," and "If I cared about the polls I would have run for president of Poland."

10. I caught that, too. Obviously the Reuters reporter was
no fan, couldn't even bother to get the song title right. And "sniped" at Bush? The reporter is an ass.

32. It is called "Evergreen." I saw that in another article quoted as
"Love Soft as an Easy Chair." Don't know if it was by the same writer. Plagiarism? This was about a week or so ago. WTF?

20. Well, guess no Kennedy Center honor for her for the next 2 years
I don't think they'd even nominate her while he's in office, because they know that there's no way she'd show up if he was there. (Remember a couple years ago, when Bush tried to wave at Stevie Wonder?) Betcha they nominate her the first year we have a Democratic president again.

Meantime, remember: every date she's performing is another few hundred thousand dollars in Democratic coffers.

38. interesting -- CNN footage shows the guy playing Bush ...
... is Steve Bridges, the same impersonator who appeared with him at the press dinner this spring (just before Stephen Colbert came out and hung Georgie out to dry!). Bridges had claimed to be a big-time Bush supporter, but now he's appearing onstage with Barbra -- perhaps he senses a change in the public mood?
