12. Prepare yourselves for a Nixon style denial
Followed by the classic 'blame it on Clinton' topped off by an accusation that the Dems plotted to make them look bad. As if they need any help. :eyes:

13. The timing indicates desire to get on the news cycle
which means probably not a resignation but another attempt to shift blame.

for current and former paiges to call and report any abuses. I'masking WHO will monitor the responses on this line? Is this just a way for Pubs to catch any info before it becomes public?????

Don't know what this is going to be about, but he's said constantly over the past 24 hours that he won't be resigning. People shouldn't be getting their hopes up.

If he resigned, my hopes would be dashed.

My hopes that he continues to embarass the Republican Party by his presence.

21. I expect a full scale attacks back at the Dems
that is what the RW radio has been clamoring for the last few days and Hastert and all the Republicans are echoing radio talking points (yes we really are at that point) recently even implying Clinton has something to do with it.

'cause he never learned how. But he's going into rehab anyway.

Clinton's Lawyer Lainy Something, said on NPR this morning that Hastert made an honest mistake and should not resign.

Tell that to the parents of America, esp. the GOP ones who send their little darlings to be properly initiated into politics!

(Of Course, Dubya would say that IS the initiation, plus a branding!)

29. Honest mistake, my donkey
He didn't pursue the Foley matter because he didn't want to give the Dems "ammunition" against them. What I'd really like to know, though, is how he suceeded in keeping all the pages' parents quiet for so long.

25. Oh, Denny... must you go?
Yes, you richly deserve to be thrown out on your ear (or out on your rear, whichever is the correct figure of speech) But on the other hand, your disastrously wretched judgement makes you useful.

And by "useful", I mean useful to us...

26. No matter how you slice it, he was derelict in his duty as House Speaker
At the very least, he should have kept Foley off the anti-pedophile commitee--after, all, think of what would happen if if Foley's "friendliness" were to become public. He hurt both the pages and the political party in his care.

He needs to get someone to accuse a democrat so it becomes a bipartisan problem.

33. Marc Sandalow: Hastert Blames Media, Soros, Clinton
House Speaker Dennis Hastert, figthing for his political survival, is lashing out at the news media, George Soros and even associates of former President Clinton.

"When the base finds out who's feeding this monster, they're not going to be happy,'' Hastert told the Chicago Tribune of the firestorm over Mark Foley's contacts with House pages.

"The people who want to see this thing blow up are ABC News and a lot of Demoratic operatives, people funded by George Soros,'' Hastert says in the interview published this morning.

Who's feeding this monster? Its the Republican way to never take responsibility for anything and always act like a victim.

36. "who's feeding this monster"?
Who created it in the first place, Tubby? Who allowed it to grow to insatiable proportions? Just because there's heaps of blame on you doesn't mean there's plenty to go around.

The nerve.
