havana • The United States must prosecute anti-Castro militant Luis Posada Carriles, Cuba and four Nobel laureates urged on Friday, marking the 30th anniversary of the bombing of a Cuban jetliner that killed 73.
“Today makes it 30 years of cover-up, of evading that justice be done,” said Ricardo Alarcon, president of Cuba’s legislature.
“The United States has the moral obligation to try Mr Posada Carriles and to extradite him to Venezuela, and if not, to judge him” there,” he said in a commemorative address in Karl Marx Theatre, alongside interim president Raul Castro and victims’ families.
The Nobel laureates urged Washington to try Posada Carriles, who is being held in the United States on immigration charges, for the 1976 bombing or extradite him to Venezuela, which wants to prosecute the Venezuelan.
