Kolbe says he did not confront Foley
Tucson Citizen

Contrary to a report Sunday in the Washington Post and in the Tucson Citizen Monday, Arizona Rep. Jim Kolbe did not confront former Rep. Mark Foley about his improper e-mails to pages.

In a statement this morning, Kolbe said a former page contacted him about e-mails from Foley that "made him uncomfortable.

"I was not shown the content of the messages and was not told they were sexually explicit. It was my recommendation that this complaint be passed along to Rep. Foley's office and the Clerk who supervised the page program."

...

"I believed then, and believe now, that this was the appropriate way to handle this incident," Kolbe said in his statement.

1. In other words "I carefully avoided reading the emails"
"And washed my hands of the whole affair."

2. This (his) whole story is too bizarre. Sounds like someone
got to him. Perhaps they should compare notes before going to the press.:eyes:

3. Depends on the meaning of the word "confront."
He and hastert are playing silly ass word games hoping they will survive for another 4 weeks. Why is it so difficult for a "conservative" to take responsibility for anything?
