Pelosi says it may take a woman to clean up the House
Nancy Pelosi stands to make life much tougher for President Bush if the November 7 elections net her a powerful job that puts her just two steps behind him.

The 66-year-old California liberal stands to become the first woman to lead the House of Representatives if she and fellow Democrats win control of the chamber from Bush's Republicans.

.......

"The only way to deal with Bush is as a co-equal branch of government," she said. "The Republican Congress has been a rubber stamp for his failed policies" on such basics as fiscal and national security.

.......

"Maybe it will take a woman to clean up the House, and a new speaker to restore civility," Pelosi said.

1. I love how the Media Industrial Complex calls Pelosi a "liberal".
She's Washington establishment. To call any Washingtonian a "liberal" at this point is like calling Ghandi a venture capitalist.

Pelosi's also quite wealthy.

However, she is a smart, eloquent woman, and yet disappointedly has become increasingly detached from those in her district who unanimously oppose the war. She's neither conservative nor liberal.

6. How is she off on the war?

Pelosi: ‘War in Iraq Is Making it Harder for America to Fight and Win the War on Terror’

Sunday, September 24, 2006

Contact: Brendan Daly/Jennifer Crider, 202-226-7616

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the New York Times report on an April 2006 National Intelligence Estimate which concluded that the war in Iraq was making the war on terror more difficult to fight and win.

“The news report on the National Intelligence Estimate is further proof that the war in Iraq is making it harder for America to fight and win the war on terror.

“Five years after 9/11 and Osama bin Laden is still free and not a single terrorist who planned 9/11 has been caught and brought to justice. President Bush should read the intelligence carefully before giving another misleading speech about progress in the war on terrorism.”

3. hehe. That's a funny quote.
It makes me think of the republicans as a bunch of slobby boys playing with tonka trucks and Pelosi as their mother. :)

So, Republicans, does mommy need to bail your ass out again? You ungrateful little bastards.

straighten out your ass. Especially since "daddy" is AWOL - too busy running off with the cute young boys.

And YES, it's an EXCELLENT way to turn their derisive "mommy party" crap back on them. My husband's family had this running joke based on an encounter at a family picnic years ago, when my late father-in-law was a kid. There was a cousin named Clarence. One of the female elders in the family turned to him at one point and said "now remember, Clarence, your mother always knows best." Since then, that's also acquired a second version - "...your mother is always right." Either way. And we still quote that to this very day. The House of Reps could use that admonishment, too.

13. Considering the fact that it is a toilet...
now don't flame me - speaker-to-be Pelosi started it. I think it is actually a great counter to the vile meme of 'oh no what if Nancy Pelosi gets in power'. Women always get stuck with the dirty house cleaning jobs.

16. Get out the BROOMS! What a great symbol for this election!!!!
BROOMS everywhere...to sweep the dirt out of OUR HOUSE!

BROOMS in ads! BROOMS on brochures! BROOMS on the internet! BROOMS out in the precincts for get-out-the-vote!

Let's CLEAN THE HOUSE! And the Senate, too!

Might as well use the witch meme to our benefit--they're so worried about women ("femminazis") ruling over them! FEMMINAZIES WITH BROOMS!!! Why not get IN THEIR FACES?!!

It'll be Halloween in two weeks. Oh, the possibilities!
